In an article about NBC -

"New series "Journeyman" is about a San Francisco newspaper reporter who travels through time to alter people's lives, and "Chuck" is a thriller about a computer geek who becomes a government agent after spy secrets are embedded in his brain."

Ummmmmmm Jake 2.0 anyone?

Yeah, I've been reading the Fall previews on sites like zap2it.com...and I can't say I'm too impressed.

It's actually better this way. Maybe this is the start of weaning myself from tv.

Sounds a bit like Quantum Leap, just interchange the scientist and the newspaperman.

Wasn't there another show on tv a couple of years ago about a guy who saw/knew the future and was always trying to head it off? Always seeing stuff on the front page of a paper?

And yeah... first thing I thought of was Jake 2.0 for the other one.

Yeah, I been doing the weaning myself from tv for quite some time now.

If it weren't for the SciFi channel and Heroes and a very few others I'd not watch tv at all.

Journeyman also sounds a bit like Voyagers from the '80s. Jon Erik Hexum starred, the guy who accidentally shot himself in the head while playing around with a prop gun.

I'm sure that 'Chuck' is Adam Baldwin's new show. O.o I might be imagining that. Can anyone confirm?

Score one for the Cos.

From FutonCritic:
http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=7292

Quote:

CHUCK (NBC) - Zachary Levi ("Less Than Perfect") and Adam Baldwin ("Day Break") have both been cast in the drama pilot, about a computer geek who becomes an unlikely NSA agent. Levi will play the title role of Chuck, a comedic Jason Bourne who undertakes missions every week while still working his day job as a computer geek. Baldwin then is set as a hardened veteran agent who realizes that Chuck is the NSA's most valuable commodity.

Commitment: Ordered to pilot
Cast: Adam Baldwin, Zachary Levi (Chuck)
Writers: Chris Fedak, Josh Schwartz
Director: McG
Executive Producers: Josh Schwartz (College Hill Pictures), McG (Wonderland Sound and Vision)
Co-Executive Producers: Chris Fedak, Peter Johnson (Wonderland Sound and Vision)
Studio: Warner Bros. Television

And one for Journeyman:

Quote:

JOURNEYMAN (NBC) - Kevin McKidd ("Rome") has been tapped for the lead role in the drama pilot, an epic fantasy about a man (McKidd) who travels back in time to fix people's lives, but by recalibrating the past, he sometimes alters the future. He'll play said lead, Dan Vasser, who's detailed from the casting notice as: "35, any ethnicity, intelligent, leading man handsome, a star journalist with the San Francisco Register. Dan's a recovering gambling addict who's worked his way through some rough patches with his wife, Katie, and their son, Zack. Dan's having a hard time getting Katie and his friends to believe that his recent abrupt and unexplained absences are not because he's gambling or doing drugs, but because he's traveling back in time. As Dan begins to put the pieces together regarding his unnerving trips to the recent past (1987-1997) he realizes that he's clearly being sent to effect some good in the world, but at the same time, being alive in the same time and place as his now dead fiancee is obviously going to take a huge emotional toll." McKidd's involvement lifts the cast-contingency off the pilot's production.

Commitment: Ordered to pilot (previously cast-contingent)
Cast: Kevin McKidd (Dan Vasser)
Writer: Kevin Falls
Director: Alex Graves
Executive Producers: Alex Graves, Kevin Falls
Studio: 20th Century Fox Television

STORYMARK

So, the ideas are somewhat simmilar to things that have come before. Big deal, it's all in the execution. I'll wait till I see them to judge.

Don't kid yourselves into thinking that Firefly was the first to juxtapose Westerns and Spaceships. That's how the original Star Trek was pitched, and there have been other series to do simmilar things.

We like Firefly becuase it was well-done, not because it was the most Earth-shatteringly original premise.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

OMFG Steal Jake 2.0 much??? Same agency, same idea for a main character... think I may have to check this out, mainly to see if I should boo the show and get a group togather to boycott for the "original" as it where, or, hopefully, become a religious watcher untill it gets canceled for being too "original" or whatever the hell sorry excuse the execs use to cancel it having Baldwin as the agent is just a plus soooo... whens it air??
