Hey All

I've been seeing billboards around the city about THE END and reading articles about the shows legacy and seeing the different commercials online for the show and I realized that this is it.

Starting April 8th and ending in early June, the last episodes of THE SOPRANOS will air.

I know all that we ever discuss on this site is FIREFLY and other sci-fi/fantasy shows. But I was wondering if there are any SOPRANOS fans here? I only ask since I think there should be a thread about this incredible show.

I always get a bit pissed when I hear BUFFY be called "The Greatest TV Show Ever Produced". While I enjoy the show, it does have it's flaws that in my mind keep it from attaining greatness status. I'm always dubious of any show that gets that title assigned to it.

But I will make an exception for THE SOPRANOS.

I wouldn't even call THE SOPRANOS tv. I'd call it long form fiction, because what it accomplishes in each episode is far beyond anything that even the best movies of the year accomplish. It's mythology and overreaching arcs and developments makes even the most minor characters deep. The dream sequences truly are like dreams in that they are indecipherable. It's black humor is infectious. David Chase is more bloodthirsty with his characters than Joss, and the overall implications and themes and ideology is truly universal.

Also, it has produced the greatest villain ever for a series, Livia Soprano. Angelus could take a bit out of her and be poisoned by the blackness that runs through her heart.

Any SOPRANOS fans on this site that will lament the shows demise?

Some of my fave moments actually involve Chris-ta-fuh. From sitting on Adrianna's dog while high on smack, the intervention that ends in a beating, basically any moment between him and Paulie, and that one suspenseful moment where he almost strangles Adrianna after she confesses to her being a rat.

SHINYED

Hey Reg...big Sopranos fan here! Sort of disappointed with last season ('cept for the johnnycakes storyline)...so I'm hoping they'll make up for it with a great final season....from what I've read it may be the best season ever.

I guess I'm just hooked on HBO tv, 'cause everything else on regular tv is lame, pc correct, commercialized, and basically stupid cop, doctor & lawyer shows...I mean really...after 1970's Medical Center ( starring Chad Everett ) did we reaaly EVER need another doctor/hospital show? We need these Hollywood pretty-boy asshole jerks on tv to entertain us???..how pathetic! I prefer:

Entourage
Big Love
Rome
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Sopranos
Oz

Sorry for anyone without HBO...you've missed a lot of great entertainment....adult & commercial free as well.

Same here. Huge HBO fan. Not only do we have the last nine eps of THE SOPRANOS, but also season 2 of BIG LOVE, the continuation of ENTOURAGE (Ari's meltdown are legendary), the new show from David Milch JOHN FROM CINCINNATI and in 08, Alan Ball's TRUE BLOOD.

I always wondered if Joss would ever go to HBO to make a series. Would make sense to go to the one place that says "Do whatever you want, we'll just pick up the tab."

Have seen a few episodes here and there, not exactly a HUGE fan per say, but it IS a very good show, my parents are fanatics of it, so starting today I will have to give up the big TV to them at 8

not like I watch much anyway... I would be VERY interested in any show Joss would decide to put on HBO, be it a Firefly remake, or new episodes of Firefly, or... well... ANYTHING Joss!!! Would be most amusing to see what he could do when given a good budget and the ability to be as artistically creative (I.E. GOOD TV!!!) as he wants to be
