Wish us luck, landlubbers. Those of you all cozied up in your dirt-surrounded states can sleep easy knowing that Hurricane Isabel is far, far away.

But for those of us on the coast, the next few days should prove interesting. I live about 6 miles away from the Atlantic, right near South/North Carolina border, so I may only get some stiff winds and flooding (although it could be worse). But others may not be so lucky.

If there are other Browncoats in the path of the storm who live on the coast, hold on tight, stock up on water and batteries, and know that you're not the only one!

(I, for one, am gonna stick it out. As a member of the local media, this is the sort of thing that makes our hearts go pitter patter.)

Good luck, coastal brethren! (And sistern, or cistern, Cistine; whatever.)

VETERAN

Don't squat with your spurs on.

If you're going to be out getting footage? Be careful out there. I don't remember seeing a storm that looked this big in a long time.

*sigh* Couldn't tell you the last time I was "out." It's a cloistered life for me -- I'm an editor, so I'll be spending most of the storm in the newsroom coordinating things (I'm a visuals editor at a newspaper -- photos, graphics, design and the like). My biggest concern will be making sure the staff stays safe, and watching out for collapsing buildings (very unlikely in our area). Thanks for the concern, though...
