OH! That's not the same one I took at all!

This one gave me Zoe (80%), but the other one I took gave a whole list of ranges of all the characters and a percentage for each one. I'll see if I can't track it down and post the link later on.

EDIT: This is the one I took:
http://www.seabreezecomputers.com/serenity/

Dr. Simon Tam (Ship Medic) 100%
River (Stowaway) 85%
Malcolm Reynolds (Captain) 65%
Inara Serra (Companion) 65%
Derrial Book (Shepherd) 65%
Zoe Washburne (Second-in-command) 55%
Kaylee Frye (Ship Mechanic) 55%
Alliance 40%
A Reaver (Cannibal) 30%
Wash (Ship Pilot) 15%
Jayne Cobb (Mercenary) 15%

At least this time I only got 30% Reaver!

VerseExplorer, I will run the photos by you first.

Marina, Trinity?!? In Dublin?!? Do you have room in your suitcase? That was one of the post-graduate schools I wanted to attend (that or Glascow), but never got around to it...something about tuition standing in the way . Shiny. I know you have been all over the world, but if you have not been to Ireland you will love it and never want to leave. Congrats.

Ok here goes, I'm 23 a female, geek/punk/crafty person. I have horrible luck meeting intelligent men in the PA/NJ area, because I'm shy. I'm am an agnositc, I have a few tattoos, no piercings other than my ears. I like video games, D&D, indie music and going to diners. I read a great deal, I work as a massage therapist. I'm a roller derby girl. I'm very open minded which seems to be a problem in meeting people (example: I went on a date once and the guy started talking about how he hated "fags", I left...). So thats me...anyone in the PA/NJ are who is interested feel free to contact me.

By the way I got 73% Zoe, and thats fine by me :)

On that quiz I got:
River (Stowaway) 85%

Even though you may have some personality problems,(most likely due to being too smart
and/or from experiments done on you),you are extremely talented and loved.

Zoe Washburne (Second-in-command)80%
Derrial Book (Shepherd) 80%
Dr. Simon Tam (Ship Medic) 80%
Inara Serra (Companion) 75%
Kaylee Frye (Ship Mechanic) 70%
Malcolm Reynolds (Captain) 70%
Wash (Ship Pilot) 40%
Alliance 35%
Jayne Cobb (Mercenary) 25%
A Reaver (Cannibal) 15%

And Tristan: I wandered around Ireland for 6 months back in 2003, just for kicks, and I never wanted to leave. I'm so thrilled to be going back!

I'm very smart.

Exotick! Well, hello! Oh, no...not you, too? You're single? ...although... You're not that far away from me...

Sorry...welcome to the Single's thread!

Hello, also, Sabri! PA/NJ may be a bit of a hike..., but welcome!

Hmm. I feel like I have taken VerseExplorer's job...

Marina, I had only eight days back in March of '98, but I really almost didn't leave. I sat at the airport all night weighing my options, and have spent a goodly part of my time trying to figure out how to get back there.

Where in Ireland did you get to go? I took a leave of absence from school (one of many) and decided to fly over there with no plans in the middle of January. I ended up spending most of my time on Inis Mor (largest of the Aran Islands). It was the first place I ever hitchhiked and it's only three miles across! Then I just took random buses up into Northern Ireland, down to Mizen Head (southernmost tip) and everything in between. Most painful for me is the knowledge that I'm only one generation away from an Irish passport - DAMMIT.

I'm very smart.

I stayed in Dublin, and spent most of the time wandering the city. It was right aroud St. Patrick's Day, so the streets were decorated, there were parades, and of course, one had to sample all the pubs!
I did get out to the Hill of Tara and spent an hour or two walking barefoot. Very peaceful up there, and it must have been the way-off season, because I was all alone.
We also got as far South as Wicklow, but had I had more time, I wanted to go West...Shannon, Limerick, Galway. Next time I do get to go, I am planning on spending much more time there. The islands sound like a good idea, too.
I have about 1/16th on my mother's side and 1/64th on my father's, but it only takes one drop of Irish blood to make one completely Irish!

Oh how very cool! You're the first Browncoat I've come across on here that's even within a few hundred miles!

Did you get a chance to attend the Serenity Now showing at the Arlington Draft House? If you were there, I was the one handing out the Fruity Oaty Bars for each donation to Equality Now.

I live up in the Hyattsville / College Park area. Interested in any Pagan fun events? The Baltimore / DC Pagan Pride Week celebration is just a few weeks away...

Would it be horridly prying of me to ask what part of the PA/NJ area that might be? I'm about an hour from Philly - don't know that I'm particularly intelligent, but after a few past experiences I definitely appreciate open-mindedness in just about anyone. I actually spent all 12 years at Berwick Academy, in South Berwick, Maine. Do you know it? I think our sports teams made the paper a lot too, although I never read past the headlines either :) UNH has a great forestry program, if I recall! I worked in a marine zoology lab for a summer and met a lot of students in their forestry program.

I miss New Hampshire too, although mostly only because my family and my childhood are there. Truth be told, I'm really only happy on the move, settling down for a year or two and then exploring somewhere new. But what took you away from New England?

Hmm....well, while I'm definitely not into humour that crude, I am in a blue-collar profession.... Hope you don't consider that a dealbreaker at least as far as friendship goes. Contrary to what too many people believe, it really does matter what the other person thinks.

Work was one reason. Even though UNH does have one of the top forestry programs in the country, the job market up there isn't so hot (and for that matter, neither were my grades - wasn't the right program for me after all). There was another reason I can't deny but don't particular want to discuss at this juncture. I do know Berwick Academy, though; and I miss just about everything about NH. Family, friends, places that grew as cosy as an old boot in the 18 years I lived there. Much as I miss it, I've got a great job here, so it just boils down to can't have my cake and eat it, too.

You did? I haven't seen any new friend requests of late.... (I thank you for the thought, even if I don't consider 'cute' vitally self-descriptive.) BTW, if you're interested and able, there's a big Shindig in Philly next weekend. No doubt the planning thread will pop up again some time today.

I don't know, maybe we could start just a thread, the Apreciatin' Tightpants (and Zoe pants and those cargo's that Jayne wears, cos they do marvellous things as well) thread.

It'd only be Tristan and the guy from D*C, but as soon as the BC Ball is done, and some of the other cons, we might just have a great little collection. Then when we make the site it'll already have an, er, following.

Or maybe we could just ask Tristan to post his photo's again!

I think what i'm more interested in is creating hundreds of random situations of 'Hi, can i take a photo of your butt? What? Only its such a great butt, we're compiling evidence to support a case for manadatory wearing of tightpants. huh? Oh, do you mind us posting it online? WHAT?

It appeals to my inner daytime tv comedy writer, surrealist AND chaos demons.

I guess i'm just very easily amused.

Although, in reality I think it might go down a little bit like this:
"Hi, can I take a photo of your butt?"
"What? You want to have sex?"
"No, it's only that you have such a great butt, we're compiling evidence to support a case for manadatory wearing of tightpants."
"Huh? You must really want to get it on!"
"No, but would you mind us posting it online?"
"WHAT? You mean there might be a lot of women that want to do it with me? Whoa!"

Editor's note: VerseExplorer realizes that not all men think about sex all of the time, but she does believe that the stereotype is quite humorous.

Well, the add worked the second time. The movie screening is only $5, and the restaurant where we're grabbing dinner is pretty reasonable from what I hear; this have an effect on the landscape for you? Costumes/T-shirts aren't a must-have either. All you need is an unflagging love of the 'verse and all who travel it.

Creative Browncoats tend to be amongst the shiniest, and it surely sounds like you fit the bill. Having a worthwhile pastime is always gratifying.

No need to apologize. I was joking, and I am assuming you were to since you added the BigGrin.

I agree stereotypes are bad. I don't generalize people, I think there are men that are looking for relationships and not just sex. I do believe that men think of other things besides sex. Although, if a girl approached you and asked to take a photo of your butt, wouldn't you be thinking she's got sex on her mind. Now whether a man would react to that comment depends on a lot of things, but don't you think (if she's at all attractive) most men would be thinking, "She wants to have sex with me." Well, I think most of the men I know would. I just thought it was funny.

Well, atleast you are still willing to share your photo. You didn't misplace it on purpose, did you? We are anxiously awaiting the pic.

Yes, VerseExplorer, I was kidding. But I really am wary of stepping out of line or offending anyone; so I do try to be careful.

As to the taking a photo of my butt...it depends on the situation. If I were dressed as Mal, I would know why they wanted the picture. If it were in "normal" life, I would joke and play along, but would not think they wanted sex unless they either flat out stated that, or were heavily hinting toward that outcome. I am not a first-move-maker anymore...I like to know where I stand with a woman and not jump to conclusions.

As to the photo, I did find it, (actually a back shot of my Mal outfit) but I am not sure it's something that needs to be posted in the Singles thread...

I'd like to defend my sex, but there are alot that give mixed messages. So do you think that's Mal's problem? He's not reading Inara's signals. Is he waiting for her to make the 1st move? He did respond to YoSaffBridge and Nandi's direct approach. Hmmm, maybe.

Actually, yes, I do think that was Mal's "problem". I never saw him as a very subtle man...not that he was brash and unthinking...but he did like to have clear indicators. Inara dod not give him clear indicators, while YoSafBridge and Nandi (*sigh*) did.

So any speculations why Inara didn't? Being a companion she should be able to read Mal, and making the first move would not be a problem for her. Hmmm, was there something in her past? Not mixing business with pleasure? I'm hoping for a sequel in order to get Mal and Inara together.

Wow, I'm liking this discussion!
I fully expect to get jumped all over for this theory (not necessarily by you), but here goes:
I really think Inara does care for Mal, but her "job" as a Companion meant she was able to remain emotionally detached from her clients. I believe she truly loved Mal, and giving in to that love would undermine her control over herself and her future.
I would also love to find out how it ends!

I agree with you. I don't remember the exact quote, but when Kaylee asks her about dating, she said, "It's complicated." There is a BIG control issue in her profession. She needs to be in control.

I know several woman with executive positions where they are in control of everything all day long. These friends have sexual fantasies that are more submissive.

I think she is just hoping that Mal will sweep her off her feet. I almost think that's the way it will have to happen because if she does the initiating, it will feel like another job.

"It's complicated" about sums it up! And I agree, it is about control. I have also heard about women in power with more submissive fantasies...I think the same may go for males, but having never been in a position of really high power, I can't verify that. I never thought about it feeling like another job for Inara...huh! Thanks for the insight!

...I think our discussion may have hijacked the thread...sorry, everyone!

Thank you for that, VerseExplorer! I must be off to bed, though. Hope to talk to you again soon!

I'm 17 single college student, as I've been told about my looks and maturity, "your to young to act that old", I've also been compared to jayne in looks and shepard book by mind. I've only recently come to the knowledge of this site.
no point in me goin' on, good luck to you all!

Welcome, Zephaniah,
It's been a few days since anyone has posted here. Most are 20 and over, but you never know when a sweet 17 year old might come by and see your note. Interesting description mind of Book and body of Jayne. Good luck on your search.

Yep, Sassalicious, old threads recycle occasionally. There was a new thread that was started at:

http://fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=11&t=24223

but there were only a few postings. It's always nice to check back once in awhile to see if someone new has joined the group.

I'm single right now but that's how I want to stay for a while. I've got other stuff to do first before I start looking for a new relationship. I just wanted to show some solidarity with other browncoat single people.

Sorry, Vinterdraken, that it didn't work out. A friend is good, but it is disappointing if you wanted more. Did you see the note that there is another Browncoat from Sweden that recently signed on FFF.net. Her name is TheDana.

Welcome, Ferall and SimonWho.

Thanks, SimonWho, for signing on to show solidarity with other Browncoat singles.
