heya everybody.
i was just wondering if anyone here likes the British comedy show Black Books??
i rate it as one of my top 5 funniest shows ever. (its got Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey in it-which should be somewhat exlainatory)
Dylan moran is possibly one of the funniest guys ever, and bill bailey comes a pretty close second.
i have been told by friends that i am a few very small steps from actually becoming Bernard...
if you haven't seen it, i totally recommend it.

anyway, black books, rock on! everyone should watch it, fans of Brit-comedy (red dwarf) should have already seen it, but if not...well i'll excuse you as fellow browncoats watching firefly.

Mal: You're on my crew.
Simon: Yeah, but you don't even like me. Why'd you come back?
Mal: You're on my crew... Why we still talking about this?

OMG!! Dylan ROCKS!!
I got to see Dylan's standup when he was in Sydney...(that was responsibe for circumstnces that ended with BernardBrowncoat owning my soul...hmm...things you have to do to get tickets for things!!)
it was worth it though, he was soooo funny.

i've had trouble trying to find DVDs of his standup stuff...he really doesn't seem to have a lot of merchandise-y type things around. its very annoying!! i want more Dylan and can't get anything!

(BernardBrowncoat...whats your mother's maiden name? 'what? i don't know, i just knew her as Ma!...that'll have to do.. Ma, possibly deceased...'

Why's it gotta be Black Books?

Why can't it be White Books?

*waves* Me! I do! But I have a weakness for any comedy involving Bill Bailey. It's the wide eyed innocence of the man. Cracks me up every time.

Aaaahhhhhhhh... that makes so much sense now. Great reply man. I was just playn'. Pretty much all of my clothes are Black or dark Blue or Brown myself. Not exactly a metal head, but I guess I'm pretty dark most of the time.

Should be called Brown Books.

The german group is Kraftwerk, the inspiration for Gary Numan and such 80's electro-pop luminaries.

And Black Books...I worked in a bookshop not dissimilar to Goliath books - well, the management wanted to be Goliath. We, the workers, were far more like Manny and Bernard. I leave you to imagine a female version of Bernard, being asked to dress up in a Peter Rabbit costume to entertain the childrens dept...

The episode with the children's book...

And Bernard's coffee...

I want to own my own bookshop one day, but I can foresee it being a cross between Black Books and the League of Gentlemen...

WHOOPS

I love this show everyone should watch it, its excellent Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey are so funny. WHAT A SHOW!! I have the box set as well so i just watch it over and over.

Best episodes are the one where they house sit for a friend but then drink a £7000 bottle of wine and try and make a new one.

And...........well actually i just love all of them lol

don't love, she'll shake you off sure as a turnin' of worlds. Love keeps her in
the air when she oughtta fall down. Tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens.
Makes her a home." Mal

oh yes, the wine episode is one of the greats, although it is very hard to pick just one!
Bernard:'how much did you say the wine cost?'
Manny:'7...thousand...pounds'
Bernard:'well, i've got about 7pound on me, how about you?'

i too dream of one day owning a bookshop like Bernards, (except a bit cleaner) and allowing my inner Bernard to come out.

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

I love it - I love it - I love it!!!

I just love Firefly a little bit more! Actually I was house-sitting for a friend with an extensive DVD collection and she had both Black Books and Firefly on her shelf. I heard Dylan Moran on the radio one day and he was hilarious - then I decided I had to watch the DVDs and saw all 3 series in a week... if I had decided to watch Firefly first I suspect I still wouldn't have seen Black Books to this day - though they are repeating it on the ABC at the moment! (Aussie TV)

Love you all here in FFF.net! Thanks Shiney kitten! I get to be all excited about another of my favourite TV shows!

Black Books is just fantastic. It's both sad and good that they've decided to bow out on a high but the three series are beautifully preserved on three great DVDs. The commentaries are mini works of art in themselves.
