There are rumblings abound about a possible Ghostusters 3. It would star the original actors, sans Bill Murray, and a younger actor, presumably to carry over to another film should Ghostbusters again become a profitable franchise. The younger actor wanted for the role is Ben Stiller. I can't stand Ben Stiller. He isn't even slightly entertaining. Having heard this, and its all just rumour and conjecture at this point, I came up with whom I think would be best to reinvigorate The Ghostbusters.

Nathan Fillion. A Ghostbusters Movie starring Harold Ramis, Dan Akroyd and Ernie Hudson along with our very own captainy captain. Directed by James Gunn. It would be Shiny.

Excellent idea! He would fit in so well with that cast!
Ben Stiller? Yeah, he wouldn't fit in at all. He doesn't have the dry wit, he's just kind of a maniac and some people find it funny. It's not even Jim Carey maniac funny, it's that bad. Can you imagine how badly Dan Akroyd would show him up?
But Nathan, Nathan could hold his own, and look damn good fighting ghosts, while Stiller would likely be "incompetant funny" which would not be funny.

That would be the best, and I hope they actually get busy with it. They've been kicking around GBIII for years. Too bad Murray is being stubborn about it, this project should have happened a long time ago if he would just do it.

It's weird, my friend and I were just talking about younger GBs and who should do it. Nathan was right on our list, as well as Alan.

I could totally see this! A bunch of middle-aged guys who never succeeded at anything (but saved NYC years and years ago),
too old now to be able to walk around with the energy packs on their backs, much less climb all those stairs;
naturally they need to hire some younger guys...
and Nathan would be perfect!

This rumor has been going around for so long, I'd expect to see Serenity 3 before Ghostbusters 3. Akyroyd seems to be the only person (in Hollywood) who wants to see it made.

Just post it on IMDB that he's rumored for the role. Someone's bound to believe it and spread it as fact. Then when the rumors fly and the interviews start he may actually be put in consideration for the role.

That is, if you want to use the IMDB system that way (which probably happens frequently).

Does make you wonder though when you have the creative forces behind a franchise that grossed over $350m at the US Box Office alone want to do a sequel and the money counters say no. If Ghostbusters 3 isn't enough of a safe bet for them, what chance Serenity 2?
