The people on the Emmy commitee wouldn't know good quality television if it bit them on the ass and then danced in front of them wearing really, really tight pants.

News Flash:

Dear readers, could it be? Yes, I do believe it is! For the the first time ever in recorded history, the Emmy committee has been bitten in the derriere by the perfect television show. Said show then began to do the lambada in front of them all.

Strangely, the committee appeared not to pay any attention. While Firefly, the show to end all shows, gyrated wildly, showing its incredible tush to great effect, the committee continued to pick their various armpits, navels, and toes while gazing in awe at the latest reality series.

Stunned onlookers attempted to hold up signs, to physically re-direct the committee to look at the Joss Whedon produced wonder. "Why, it was insanity! One of the committee members actually slathered mashed potatoes over his eyes rather than watch when he was placed in front of the video of Firefly. I for one was horrified," says J.L. Picard, head of "Fabulously Famous Firefly Fans".

Next year, the Emmys will not actually be voted on by humans, but rather by trained budgies, who are known to be more intelligent than the average Emmy voter.

To the one with the superior active imagination "Rah," *holding fist is a slight rise*

All I can say is an Emmy would be the least Justice our Shiny hour of escape deserves.

None the less. Keep Flying...

I had posted this on the chat a while back but never got around to posting it here. The June 5 edition of Daily Variety had a full page ad on the front paid for by fox of shows they consider Emmy worthy.

The ad features pics of different fox shows and at the bottom says 'Proof of Quality'. Included are pics of Firefly and Futurama along with a few others that got cancelled or are on 'hiatus'. I suggested it should read 'Proof of Stupidity'. "We know what a good show is, if it's good we cancel it."

Edit: Huh, for some reason it won't link right, oh well, you get the idea.

This link may work

With all due respect, this ad looks like it was done by 20th Century Fox Television - the studio that MAKES Firefly, not Fox the network - the company that screwed Firefly.

If you look at the picture you will also see pictures of Buffy and Angel which are not Fox network shows.

In this context, Proof of Quality is correct.

I was unaware that Mutant Enemy did Star Trek too.

I am rooting for Firefly, of course. I couldn't even recall which enterprise ep was which from their titles alone. Only with Firefly can I do that (and a very few South Parks)

Hey y'all...maybe some of you don't know this, but the Emmy Nominating Committee and the people in the industry who can vote for Emmy nominees have NOTHING to do with a network's programming...or lack thereof.
There have been many situations where a wonderful show was canceled, and then won an Emmy in some catagory or another.
Don't blame the Nomintating Committee for Fox's f*** up.
I applaud (and we fans should thank)the people in the Industry (especially the Technical voters) who recognized the work that was put into the "Serenity" episode.
I have friends who are Emmy and SAG voters and we've all sat around and bitched about how many great shows the networks have let die.
This nomination is proof that Joss Whedon and his team were on the right track...and that Fox doesn't know Jack S***.

"Take me, Sir. Take me hard."
