NEEDY

The road to Hel is paved with good intentions

Earlier:
Helo Holding Facility

Some days are harder than others, especially for men like Leon Rae whose job involved keeping order in Helo. As if watching over the various inmates and giving orders to the guards wasn’t stressful enough, there were also the odd days where he’d have to deal with outside political bodies.

Leon was not against The Alliance, after all, they do bring order to a chaotic universe. But when they get in the way of him doing his job, that’s when his feelings toward them change.
Helo was an independent facility. That was why he took the job so many years ago as a lowly prison guard. He didn’t want to have to deal with The Alliance’s laws and insidious methods. But this was one of those days where he just had to sit back and allow them to do their job – even if it did mean they were stepping on his toes and doing what he felt was immoral.
He’d learnt that when it came to men wanted by the alliance, the less he knew the better. That way, when they come and do what they feel is necessary, Leon doesn’t have to second guess them, content on telling himself that the criminal in question was both guilty and deserving of said punishment.

“Boss” a voice called out from the open door to Leon’s office
Standing before him was Lance, one of the latest Guards to be transferred to Helo
“What is it?” Leon replied.
“Looks like the feds are here to pick up your prisoner”
Leon sighed before muttering “I’ll be there in a minute”
---
As Leon was led to the Alliance officers in question, he found that they weren’t planning on waiting around and already were situated outside Cell 15H waiting for the prisoner named Milton Reeve to be handed over to them. Leon looked the two female officers up and down.
“I.D.?” he requested
“We’ve already been through this. Must you waste more of our time?” one of the officers spoke confidently.
“It’s protocol”
Both officers waved their ID cards at him, before the one that spoke before continued “Satisfied? Now if you don’t mind, this is an important matter we need to take care of, and if you don’t comply with our wishes right now then we will be forced to take action. And I imagine you would like to keep your job”
Leon rolled his eyes before instructing the guard positioned at the door to let them in.
“Alliance” he groaned to himself
After entering the cell, it didn’t seem to take much effort to drag the prisoner out. Maybe the man in question knew it was pointless to struggle. He would have been right.
As the two officers leave the premises with Mr Reeve in tow, Leon imagines what the prisoner must have been like – a baby-killer, a rapist… As hard as he tried though, he couldn’t convince himself of it. Instinct told him that this was just the Alliance being the Alliance. Following their own rules, innocent parties be damned.

NEEDY

The road to Hel is paved with good intentions

Carl Perry stared at the screen of his cortex long after Kyra had thrown hers into the river, ruining the device and causing the call to be disconnected.

Telling her the bad news was not something he wanted to do, but he felt that he was the best person to do it. However, he did want to do it in person. He wanted to be there for her, to hold her and provide the comfort she needed. But she had forced his hand, she never would have come in to work, not in the state she had got herself in. Now Carl feared he had only made it worse.
As the cortex beeped repeatedly with a single message flashing on the screen, Carl sighed before pressing the “End Call” function. The message “Connection Error” was immediately replaced with the name-brand of the cortex and a picture of the editor’s family in the background.

He bit his bottom lip, before placing the device on his desk, struggling to hold back his anger; his frustration; his helplessness.
Jumping out of his chair, he walks towards the door of his office and opens it.
Sitting just outside is a tired-looking man, approximately thirty years old. His hair is thin on top, but neatly kept. His attire consisting of a cheap brownish suit and worn shoes. All evidence pointed to a man of little means, but one who felt that dressing one’s best at all times was important. Pity his best wasn’t good enough.
Even though it wasn’t the first time the man had been in Carl’s office, the editor still looked him up and down, astonished at the man’s fashion sense.
Carl may have been a decent caring man, but growing up with the upper-class family he had, he could not help judge people by the way they looked, even looking down on them somewhat. It was a weakness he would readily admit to, and one he had tried again and again to shake.

“Thanks for coming in again Alec” Carl feigned a smile
“No problem mister Perry”
Carl had given up on insisting he be called by his first name.
“I just wanted to thank you for all the information you’ve given us. It’s been a great help in our ongoing investigation”
“Sure.”
“And I wanted you to know how grateful I am for it” Carl says as he opens a drawer of his desk and pulls out an unsealed envelope.
Walking up to the seated man, he holds out the envelope, encouraging him to take it
With hesitance, Alec takes the item from his hands and sneaks a peak inside.
His eyes express genuine shock as he realises not only is it money, but a fair amount too.
“I can’t…”
“Yes you can. You gave us information only the Alliance knew. We never would have found out if you hadn’t told us”
“But… I didn’t do it for this. I just told you because I thought you should know. If the Alliance killed innocent people, I’d want to know. They shouldn’t get away with it, even if they are the police.”
“I know and you’re right, which is why your willingness to come forward deserves to be rewarded. Take it. Maybe I’ll see you around again sometime”
For the first time, Carl sees something different in Alec. Before he had only seen a simple soul, but for a brief moment he witnesses something else, as if a façade was lifted and only now was he looking at the real “Alec”. Then, just as quickly, the man before him returned to his innocent routine.
“Thanks” he said before scuffling off towards the door.

NEEDY

The road to Hel is paved with good intentions

Kyra entered her apartment with a determination she had not experienced for as long as she could remember.
She had been pushed to the tether, and could see no longer see any other way out.
The system was crooked. Those independents she had read and written about had the right idea. Something needed to be done.

Heading for her bedroom she pulled open the middle drawer of her bedside table.
If there was one benefit of having a husband desert you within a year of being married, it was that they rarely pack everything up. Something belonging to them normally gets left behind.

Usually, she wouldn’t touch the object. Before now, she hadn’t even been able to bring herself to pick it up and throw it out. But that was then, and this is now.

Removing the pistol from underneath the pile of sundries, she quickly slipped it into her inside jacket pocket, before leaving the room and heading for her final destination.
---

As the Alliance officers headed for their copter, the talkative one whispered something into the ear of their prisoner.
The words brought relief to Milton, but he knew it wasn’t over yet. In fact, in many ways, his journey was just beginning.

Whilst the silent officer sits in the back of the stolen Alliance copter with him, the other officer takes her position in the co-pilot’s seat.

Breathing a collective sigh of relief, the two women and male pilot look at each other as they smile at their accomplishment.

“What did I tell you?” the officer asks the pilot sitting beside her.

“You were right” the man responds.

“Amy’s a genius”

The ex-alliance officer lifts the copter into the air and makes haste to their base of operations.

A nervous Milton turns to the grinning woman sitting quietly beside him. “Do I know you?”

“No” she responds quickly. “But we’ve got a friend in common”

Milton waits for her to tell him who the friend in question is, but the answer is not forthcoming, at least, not yet.

Undoing his handcuffs and casting them to the floor, she holds her hand out for him to shake. “My name’s Versa.”

Hesitantly he accepts the hand and greets her.
“Welcome to the resistance” she tells him

In the front of the copter, the two accomplices laugh at the relative ease in which they gained access to Helo.

“You’re good Flechette, I’ve gotta say” the pilot tells her

“No Jack” Flechette responds with a wicked grin “I’m fantastic.”

Wisp arrived at the hospital gates about an hour later. The journey was less than a mile but he had to avoid a large group of the community(all the law abiding ones) he'd had to knock out an inocent young business man who was getting a special treat in the alley from a female hobo. The Tramp didnt give a sh*t but the guy instantly lost his...nerve.. as soon as he saw Wisp.

After that there was a close call with Some Feds roughly walking past him. But they were busy chasing a shopliifter. If theyre boss ever found out the arrested a petty crook over an international fugitive theyd be sent to an asteriod prison to clean showers.

But now he was here it still wasnt over. There were still the feds on the gate and probably some inside. He could start a firefight but at a hospital door theyre were too many innocent bystanders. He would probably have to wait till dark and the changing of the shift.

A mule pulled up between him and the gate with a bunch of shady characters on board. Wisp couldnt see them clearly from his hiding spot he could just see a man in a Black Coat.

Vixen had been shackled since the incident with Wisp. She had looked very funny going into jail already tied up. She hadnt said anything to anyone, They didnt like her. Except that crazy boy whore- He liked her too much but as he was now crazy hed grown on her. Shed had a breif respite from her bindings when they were released but it was short lived as Seryn soon re-retrained her.

She didnt see the point in searching for Wisp. He Was Dead. For all intents and purposes she should have been too. She didnt credit her injuries by allowing herself to feel pain. Any normal person would want lots of dope and be wincing every time the mule bucked. Any normal woman would be sobbing.

The fall that had caused them was a one in a million chance of survival the chance of 2 people surving it was one in 1000000000000. An impossible probability. She admired the determination of the team to rescue him. Especially Seryn. Vixen presumed that she felt guilty or that she had lost too many friends to abandon one so easily. Vixen settled on the belief that Seryn's life had been so out of control she wanted to control something, anything before she lost all her will.

Safe and his motley crew were just tagging along on this insane hope for Seryn's sake. She could see the looks in theyre eyes that they had resigned themselves to his fate. They were just humouring Seryns ideas for a while before they forced her to accept it.

Soul was entirely different. His eyes gave nothing away. They werent cold just hard, learned, experienced. She didnt think he was here for either Wisp or Seryn. It was like his agenda ran parralell for this part of his journey but could vear off at any time.

Something caught her eye from the back of the mule. She was facing backwards while the others were huddeled at the front debating how to get into the hospital. It was a brown flying jacket. The man wearing was veiled by shadows but a shot of emerald flashed through the black.

"Ermm Miss bitch???" Vixen said in Seryns general direction without emotion.

"What" Seryn did not enjoy her company and it was a wonder she was sat on the back of the mule and not tied to it.

"I believe our mutual friend is cowering in that alleyway"

Seryns eyes lifted and they melted in an instant. Tears welled but did not fall. She was unbelievable happy and quivered slightly but not enough to be noticed. Vixen felt the same, more so even but her exterior was as frigid as ever.

SERYN

ooc - i've missed a bit - how did Vixen get there? I'm pretty sure no-one has rescued her yet. Unless i've missed a lot?)

Seryn looked at the scrubs, picking them up with a pinch of her fingers.

"Did they not carry them in green?"
Safe startled, but she smiled, half indication of wit and half apology for its lame nature.

She looked around, a few allyways looked close, some even had only a little garbage in them. Stuff it, it was nothing they handn't all seen before a hundred times. She quickly pulled off her shirt, and pulled the top over her head, followed it with the coat and then jumped from the mule, and swaped pants. She was glad the trousers were long enough to mostly cover her shoes. Swiping her hair up into a neat (ish)chignon, she secured it with a pencil and stood back, arms out.

"Do i pass muster?" they looked at her slightly fazed "oh, this is nothing, you should see the bra trick."

She leaned against the side of the mule, taking stock of their surroundings - you could shoot about a place all you liked, and still not learn it as much as if you stood on the ground.

"So, so that we're all on the same page, the plan is...?"

Their small huddle was broken by a few words from the back of the mule, and they all whipped around to look at the figure watching them from an entrance way.

"Well i'll be damned..." Safe shielded his eyes, straining as though to try and clarify what he was seeing. Soul silently slid from the mule to stand behind her, the black of his clothing only adding to the big dangerous cat impression that she'd been getting from him. She wondered if he practiced.

She just kind of froze. Words escaped her. Her eyes stung, but she didn't acknowledge the gathering tears. Rather she refused to believe they existed and concentrated only on the fact that there he was, standing there, non dead.

Well, that was their need to infiltrate the hospitle gone.

Finally she managed a smile, and the three of them crossed slowly, the two men scanning their surroundings, eyeing the few people moving about the area.
She realised she should have been doing this herself, but all her carefull monitoring of their route and location went straight out of her head as they reached the alley and Wisp, and she threw her arms around his neck and gave him the biggest gearhug she could muster.

"Oh you idiot idiot boy! Gorramit i'm so glad you ain't dead. Where have you been?"

She stood back to let the manly back clapping commence, and then froze.

Silouhetted in the daylight at the other end of the alley way were two vaguely human shapes. Bluky and odly proportioned, they coalesced with the change of the light into guard, heavily armed and armoured guards.

Beside her, hands were already on guns, and she thought back ruefully to her own gunbelt lying on her vacated seat.

In silent agreement they began to back towards the mule, and came out to bright sunlight, She and Safe turning to see more guards emerge from the surrounding buildings. A low thrumming impinged upon her conciousness, and Soul confirmed her fear in a low voice... "air support..."

One of them, all of them possibly, had been followed, they'd been walking blithely in. And here she was armed with little more than a pencil.

Looking toward their mule, she realised they were still coser to it than the feds were, but it didn't help them much - all possible exits were blocked, and there was no way they could out run the vehicles.

This time it was Safe's turn to confirm what they all knew.

"Well, we're pretty much trapped. Any ideas?"

(ooc - as always, if this doesn't fit with anyones story, i can edit - but please don't ask, i kinda like it)

"Anybody?"
Safe voice had gained an octave.

"Many" Soul replied "but none that give us a more than a moderate to good chance of gettin out of here with all our significant parts intact"

"Define significant parts?" Safe looked at her, waiting for the jokey grin. It didn't happen.

"So do we run for it, fight it out? give up? what?"
"To many to run"
"To many to shoot"
"Do they have a leader?"
"Theres one way to find out"
"What? 'Take me to your leader'?"
"It's as good as anything else"

She broke away from the group, a few paces out, and raised her hands "Ok, i admit it, it was me who stole all the office stationary, can't i just speak to your boss? maybe... " she shifted her wieght to one hip, dropped her head to a coqettish angle, "...negotiate?"

One guy stepped forward, a mean look on his face, but he wasn't what she would have expected. "This is no time for jokes, you have no comprehension of the trouble you are all in"

"over stationary?"

"Don't mess with me woman" His attitude darkened, and she blanched a little. Keeping her arms raised, she opened her mouth to speak, but he cut her off "HANDS BEHIND YOUR HEAD!"

She complied, and waited, as docile as she could manage, until he got very close.

He leaned into her, she could smell his breath, and the soap he'd used that morning. Her fingers found the pencil in her hair, and gripped it tightly as she swung her self around, pivoting on the spot and bringing her arm round in a swooping circle to drive the tip of the pencil into the soft curve showing at his neck above his armour.

He screammed, the sound cut off into a gurgling, and he fall to his knees, she backed up again, and the shots began - Soul had managed to slip Wisp a gun, and the three took out as many as they could before a voice from the massed guards yelled a ceasfire.

the guy still gurlged on the paving stones - she missed the major life threatening areas. It was just going to be damn painful. All to no end - this wasn't the chaos she'd hoped for, even in well disiplined troop, a superior officer dying usually took some whind out of their sails.

"looks like they don't much like you, mate"
Soul looked at her, a frown on his features "don't tease dying people"
"oh he's not dying, see no blood in his mouth - missed the major stuff, probably just get lead poisoning"
"Pencils are made of graphite"
"Is now really the time to get picky?"
Wisp cut accross the banter "Ok, so Soul, what were thos ideas you had? I'm about ready to take a chance on moderate to good"
"Hell i'd go with fair to middling about now"

OOC sorry i thought vixen was with u. ill reread those posts and put her back in later.

The four of them stood in a vague defence around the mule. No real cover was provided but no-one was shooting. The two teams stared in stalemate. Wisp could see at least 12 of them with a smattering of corpses lying in the least covered areas. The purple body armour melded with the concrete but the crimson fluid that poured out of their shattered bodies flowed in contrast to the grey.

Seryn grabbed the end of the pencil and twisted it in the superiors neck forcing a moan out of him.

"What do you want because starting a firefight isnt the best thing to do before asking for a favour"

"Come now" He replied "None of you are innocent are you??? But were werent here after you all"

"Who??"Safe called from his cover. He threw his words like a grenade then shrunk back behind the mule as if cowering from the effect of them.

"Insignificant now. The arrest and execution of you all will make me a very prosperous man" The mans tone was monstrous. He was almost pleased with his own lack of morals.

"Well youve got a little bit of work to do before you settle down with that nice young virgin in the sunshine"

Seryns hand was still firmly on the makeshift lance protuding from the villains collar. She didnt sheild herself at all. She stood completely in the open as if her bold confidence itself would deflect bullets.

"Not as much as you think" A wicked smile crept across his face which puzzeld Seryn. Why was he so confident in the face of his own death?? Her answer came swiftly in the form of a bullet through her knee. The blood sprayed in a fountain from the joint of her leg as the lead pellet tore a savage pass through the cartlige and flesh like a raging bull in an orphanage.

While The conversation had been going snipers had been set up all around them. It was a trap and no matter how theyd played it the outcome was predestined.

Seryns body crumpled and fell to the floor with a bare moan escaping from her lungs. Bullets flew from everywhere now the three men behind the mule couldnt fire any shots due to the concentraion against them. The air was awash with flying metal. Spent cartidges piled the floor like bodies.

The torrent of projectiles soon found their mark. A bullet grazed Wisps skull knocking him unconsious to the floor. Soon after one of the mettalic dragons ripped a cardinal hole in Safes shoulder resigning him to a sitting position.

Soul continued regardless of his fallen comrades like a man possessed by a daemon. His spirit flowed with anger as his gun tore through the air like a sabre cutting down countless Feds in each stroke. But still more appeared. Like the snipers the reinforcments were fresh and unshaken by theyre leaders mutilation.

He would have fought to his last breath if it wasnt for a concussion grenade knocking him off his feet for a moment. By the time he had touched the floor several feet from where hed been stood a moment ago guns were all around him.

"What shall we do with them sir??" An etherial unembodied underling said.

"Not the jail" The superioir was now being bandaged by a medic as the four warriors were emprisoned "Crimson squad want them. Put them in hospital quarantine its just as secure" he turned round and left the battle site.

As the four were knocked unconsious by a combination of powerful sedatives and cruel blows a lowly ensign was told to secure the mule.

"SIR YES SIR" He had replied with fear veiled by enthusiasm. This wasnt his first firefight but it was more epic than anything hed ever seen. He didnt know it but some of the veterans were feeling the exact same at the carnage that had just subsided.

The sleepy little town nie on the verse hadnt seen as much public rebellion since the war.

The ensign collected all of the weapons dotted around the mule and put thema all ina security bag. When he heard a crying. No it was a muffled scream. His ears were still ringing from the micro explosions that had propelled the bullets amoment ago. He followed the noise and opened the trunk of the mule.

"Huuh"

CITIZEN

OOC: I'm back ...

Citizen finished his drink and stalked slowly to the back of the bar. When he was sure no one was watching he slipped into a back room and made his way to the far back. Against one wall sat a large Blue Sun vending machine, proudly embossed with the words “Live life with Blue Sun!” The thing was in a pretty unhealthy state of disrepair, covered with grime scratches and graffiti, including a white logo with a five pronged star which is exactly what he was looking for. He located the selection number pad and typed in a five digit number followed by a hash and hit the select button, after a momentary pause the vending machine hiss and the front fascia fanned open to reveal,

racks of aging Blue Sun cola.

He pulled a can from one dispenser tray and replaced it in another, pushing the trays back into place he was met by a satisfying click and the racks sprang forward just an inch allowing him to pull them aside like a door. Behind was a roughly hewn hole in the wall, its edges adorned with roughly broken crumbling bricks leading to a short dark tunnel, terminated by a heavy metal door adorned with rivets and a large metal wheel. Making his way inside the vending machine façade fanned shut behind him, plunging the room into momentary darkness before an ancient strip light farted itself into existence drowning the room in a soft white glow. He spun the wheel open and with a heavy sigh of trapped air the door whined open. He stepped inside guiding the door closed behind him and spun the wheel back to place.

The Alliance could try all they liked, they could infiltrate the tunnels and blow up buildings but the resistance tunnel network that had grown from the Independents defence tunnels after the war was just too widespread and well hidden to be destroyed completely. It was also a hell of a lot better organised than the Alliance would like to think. They weren’t terrorists, they were guerrillas and they were growing in strength, preparing to hit the Alliance military where it hurt.

At least that was the plan, unfortunately the Alliance military spent a lot of it’s time in Cruisers, and it’s awfully hard to drive a bomb truck into a cruiser.

But where there’s a will there’s a way, and the Alliance military may be better armed better equipped and better manned, but the resistance had,

‘A network of rat infested tunnels’ he thought as his foot fall brought about an agonised shriek from one of the many rodents that scampered beneath him.

But if you’re going to track down what’s left of the Boros militia the best and probably only place to start is the underground, literally. He’d wandered into an original part of the tunnel network, a communications tunnel running between an old Independents barracks hole and HQ centre. Back during the war this tunnel would have most likely been crammed with ammunition and soldiers moving from the barracks to HQ or one of the exit points to bolster one of the many front lines. Now it was still crammed but with the stinking bodies of under fed rodents.

There might be a supply dump or even a barracks along here and if not you can’t wander around the Boros undergrounds secret tunnels without someone stopping you.

At least he hoped you can’t.

After sometime of winding tunnels all look more like the last he met what must have been the old HQ. A large blast door dominated the end of the passage way with heaps of cabling disappearing into the walls either side. He pushed through the double blast doors and into the room proper. It was a hive of smashed and broken equipment; obviously it hadn’t been touched since the end of the war.

At least he knew he was in the right place, he lamented as the metal bar applied roughly to the back of his head compelled him to unconsciousness.

More insane ramblings by the people who brought you beeeer milkshakes!
No one can see their reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.

Ghost cried out as she was awoken by the shifting of the mule as the concussion grenade fell. She didn’t know how long she had been hiding in the compartment. Then light exploded in front of her eyes as the trunk was open and daylight (ooc: it is daylight right eh I can always edit later) flooded her vision. She gave out another cry as the light cleared and she felt herself being pulled roughly out of the mule.

Blinking she looked around and whimpered again.

She was in Town…

She wasn’t allowed in Town Mr. Carson said so.

Town was where the scary men came from, Town was where Mr. Carson came back from smelling funny and hitting. Town was where adults lived.

She’d never been inside Town before, when they had dropped Mr. Fish at the hospital Truth had left her and Shadow in the woods.

She was surrounded by adults now.

Fear, Pain, and Panic set in and soon the she felt unconscious take hold. Then she felt nothing.

“What should we do with her?”

“Put her with the others”

The Jail was made of cold steel. From the road driving in All that could be seen was a huge concrete wall blocking out the horizon. The facility was only two stories high in a series of mismatched buildings within the security perimeter fortifications.

On each of the bases four corners was a reinforced security tower with a turret on top of each. Floodlights bathed the landscape for around half a mile around so even in the pitch dead of night the ground was fully illuminated. The wildlife around the entire area was badly disturbed from the lack of darkness and constant noise.

The real spirit of the base was underground. A vast system of cells were sealed in concrete making escape impossible. The lifts went to the cells and the cells had no other door or window.

Vixen was lying on the steel bed staring at the same patch of concrete as she had been doing for at least a week now. Was it longer??

There was no concept of time down here. Lights varied on and off for a few hours at a time. No clocks were anywhere to be seen. Meals were always the same rations and they arrived at odd intervals. It was an environment designed to destroy the soul. The Helo facility was reserved for high risk and politcal prisoners. Mass murderers and such were given bare cells like Vixen and were left to go mad. Political enemies had more conmfortable surroundings but escape was equally futile. Rumors circulated that there were several high profile members of the independance that had been locked up since the war.

Vixen spent here time thinking. It was the only thing she could do and she needed to do something. Her thoughts went out to Wisp mainly. His crumpled and battered corpse lying in a thicket of the river somewhere.

She'd scoured the room fully for any sign of escape and found nothing. There was a black semisphere in the roof of the room that she asumed had a camera and microphone in it. Shed tried to prize it off but to no avail. Shed settled down after that and was still in the same positon.

SAFEAT2ND

Earlier:
Their reunion cut short by the untimely arrival of the Alliance, Safe and the others found themselves pinned down.

Safe hunkered behind the mule, trying to buy some time to think… and reload. ‘Keep ‘em talking’ he thought. “Maybe they’ll give us some clue as to who is after us and how they found us.’ This was a well put together trap. The Alliance had info on where they would be. It would only be a matter of time before the snip…
Seryn cried out.

Safe looked over in time to see her crumple to the ground. She had surprised him again with her ballzy attack on the commander earlier. He couldn’t afford to grow too attached to the people around him. It made him sloppy.

He cursed himself for just that when “the kid” dropped to the ground. Head shot, hopefully only a graze.

Safe scanned the building tops for the sniper.

There!!

Safe rolled to one end of the mule and popped up, gun coming to bear… But couldn't pull the trigger. He looked down in confusion to find himself sitting on the ground. ‘How’d he get there, and why wouldn’t his hand work?’ That’s when he noticed the blood. “Hunh…” He managed, more in resignation than question.

Soul spun past, his black coat sounding disturbingly to Safe like the wings of descending ravens.

Soul was wreaking havoc, and Safe felt foolish sitting on the ground. He tried to stand, when the ground shook causing him to collapse. Who was left?? Needy!! Safe looked up in hope, his vision swimming to see Needy still sitting in the mule.

‘Aw, crap.’ The thumping in Safe’s ears grew louder and the sky darkened. He imagined that the Alliance had somehow created giants to get them.

Rough hands grabbed him.

“…hey… easy on the threads mr. giant…. can’t you see… I’m a captai…” Safe mumbled as blackness took him.

OOC: Sorry WSYB, To Safe, Wisp is a kid. It's not derogatory.

SERYN

Seryn lay on the ground, her veiw was restriceted, to her left, concrete and paving flags stretched away to be lost in the bright glare of sunlight. On her right, the world was curtained by a thick fall of white cotton, and a few strands of hair, the tips reddened by the sun. She tried to stand up, she'd managed to rais herself enough to watch helplessly as the others went down, attempts to crawl for her weapons where they sat on the mule resulted in nothing more than an awful lot of pain.

Purplebellies crawled on the paving wall like flys scurring to and fro. She was vaguely aware of a red heat coming from her leg, she wasn't sure which one. She'd had a notion that it was the left, but then some guy had come over, and while she'd been distracted by the sight of Safe being hauled up and tethered, he'd stuck something in her, and now she couldn't make senese of anything she could feel.

She'd hoped that she'd be left as she was, but the guy had rolled her over again, and now she couldn't tell what was going on. It was quiet, that couldn't be a good thing.

Safe was still alive, it was his arm, just like hers was only a leg. He was much better at injuries than she was. Wasn't hard to be.
But the fates of the others were unknown.

Fabric was bunched somewhere, along with the detail of the weave in her coat, that point was crystal clear. she figured i meant things were riding up elsewhere, but couldn't get her hands together to check. That seemed to be the main issue here, her mind was perfectly awake, but her body was shutting down around her.
Whatever it was the alliance had used could be very useful. She must remember to take some with her on their way out.

Two guys approached, and the changing in the view let her know that she'd been lifted - the wall disappeared and became a ceiling, from which the mule hung suspended by invisible wires. Safe was lifted as she watched and the guards holding him seemed to want to follow her. Behind them, she could see Wisp, kneeling, hands tied at the wrist behind his back, Blood ran from his forhead, and he seemed to be fighting the urge to keel over, but other than that he looked whole. That was a relief. A huddle of guards behind the mule told her that was where Soul possibly was. Guards approached the mule two began to harass Needy, still seated, calm as may be. She wondered if he had slipped back, but figured his catatonic states were probably his biggest protection about now. The other guards broke away and began digging about in it, he seemed to pause, then go directly for the storage. A high pitched scream rent the air, and Seryns eyes began to close.

She figured it must have been a dream, nothing else could explain the little girls appearence on this planet of neverending trouble, not when she herself had left the two of them Safe and sound, enjoying their new dresses, on the Tree.

By the time she awoke to the cold steel ceilings and walls of wherever they were bieng held. The possibility of Ghost being hidden on that Mule had been filed away under 'wierd anecdote to tell when with friends'.

The team werent sent to The helo Facility because of the time it would have taken to get there and the injuries they had sustained. The hospital quarantine however was just as secure and there they could get medical attention while the Crimson Squad arrived.

The Crimson Squad were a top secret branch of the alliance. During the war they developed and used weapons of mass destruction. They were also involved in spying, sabotage, and torture. They were interested in where the group had come from. The galactic hiccup was the reason the team were here. The Crimson Squad thought the crew were responsible and wanted the technology.

Wisp had been ear marked for the Crimson Squad at the alliance military academy so he was suspected first. Soul also had been suspected as his record was littered with events the Crimson Squad were interested in. Safe had a record but nothing this serious. Seryn was suspected of leading the troupe due to her performance in the firefight.

Needy was a mystery. He barely spoke and when he did it was incoherent. The most intesting part was that none of the medical instruments worked on him. and syringes bent and crumpled off his skin. They would all be interrogated thoroughly.

The Quarantine room was a white room 10 metres square. A one way mirror encircled the room across the middle band of each wall. The floor and the rest of the walls were sparkling white. There were 8 beds in the room with two of them standing empty. One bed however was conspicuously missing. Above each bed was a door in the celing there were no doors in the room. The beds were suspended at the foor corners so the could be pulled to the floor above easily.

Seryn awoke very groggily. She tried to move but found it difficult. Her leg throbbed in a dull ache. She tried to look down but her body resisted causing her to wince.

"Hey hey easy now" she couldnt see the source of the voice but recognised it as Wisp "just a minuite ill sit you up"

Wisp pressed a button on the bed and Seryn was moved into a sitting position. She could now see her surroundings. Wisp was stood next to her while tetherd loosley to the bed beside her. His head was heavily bandaged with a red stain around his right temple He wore a cream hospital smock that dangled across his shoulders. On the two beds opposite Safe was trying to console a small child. And to her right was a missing space and Needy sat cross legged muttering to himself.

"You really know how to throw a welcome back party" Wisp said with his cheeky grin across his face.

"Well..." she tried for a humourous response but her thoughts failed her due to the concoction of sedatives she had been given. "Wheres Soul???"

"He dissappeared into the roof a few hours back. He was the first one to go"

Seryn rolled back to face the celing. She tried to lift her arms but found a collar attached to her left wrist pipes attached to it. He right hand came round to caress it.

"Its for drugs n stuff. Its also a restrainment device, when i tried to pull the wires out of my bed they knocked me out for an hour"

"So what do we do now???"

"Im working on it just get some rest" Seryn responded by falling back into a deep slumber

I figured everyone could write theyre own interogations so they could throw in character background n stuff

APRILISE

Ghost sat silently on the bed in the strange room she had found herself in. She had awoken well before the adults surrounding her.

The scary people had left her alone so far, except to fix her arm in a sling.

She didn't know how long she was there till the other adults woke up.

(insert last post here)

As the adults talked Ghost watched them. Staying very still and very silent as not to attract attention. Most adults didn't like when you made noise or moved too much.

Soon, she hoped, Shadow and Truth would find her. She hoped they were ok.

SERYN

She woke up again to a veiw that hadn't much changed, Wisp paced, Needy was still seat ed, Safe sat with the little girl.

That was what had woken her.

"Ghost?"

The little girl looked up at the sound of her voice - startled scared expression on her face. She hand't seen that look in the her eyes since, well, since they'd first coe on board the Tree.

She twitched a little, but displayed no signs of recognition. Without thinking, Seryn threw out her arms in an invitation, but the girl didn't move.

"Ghost where your sister? Wheres Shadow? Is she still on the Tree or is she somewhere on the planet?" She dropped her arms "how did you get here?"

Ghost knew she had to say something, but she couldn't work out what to say? How did this lady know her? How had she met Shadow? Did she know the Carsons? Was she going to punish her for hiding?

But she didn't look like the sort of people the Carsons knew - she looked a bit wild, her hair was tangled and her cheek still showed bits of dirt, but she really wasn't the Carsons type. Ghost watcheda s the woman tried to get off the bed she was on, grimace, then give up. And when she motioned for the little girl to come over to her, Ghost felt a sudden moment of bravery.

Lifting the girl onto the bed Seryn was startled at how thin she was - even her few weeks on the Tree had brought her up to a normal weight for her age. A quick, low voiced conferenc established two startling facts - Ghost had no idea who they all were, and she had never been onboeard the Serenitree - she had never even left the planet they were on.

Again with out thinking Saryn embraced the fragile little figure, cradling her head against her shoulder, and looked over her head at Safe, confusion and alarm written over her features.

ooc- i should expleain that one, you are all free to remember Ghost or not - infact if some of you don't that would make it more interesting, but i though it would add more wrinkles to the space hiccup.

Wisp Walked over to Safe who was now sat alone on his bed.

"How long has he been up there??" Wisp asked to Safe. He was holding himself against the bed in a casual way but he knew he could quite easily fall over without it. His head was swimming and his vision was still blurry.

"Dunno" Safe replied His arm was in a sling with heavy bandaging. "A few hours i think. Do you recognise the girl??"

"She was on the Tree i fink but she seems a little different now"

"Howd u mean??"

"No idea"

Wisp returned to his bed and sat down waiting for Soul to return so he could find out why they were here.

THEREALME

A small figure pads into the darkness of the cargo compartment of the Epsilon. Its movements are absolutely silent, despite the bulky weight being carried.

“Ah, there it is!”

The figure moves up to the still form of Rosie, who has long since taken root in the soil that she brought on board. Rosie remains motionless, making no sign that she can sense the intruder.

“Let me remember. Hmmm… Torpor is a dangerous time for plant people, isn’t it?”

A small hand lightly brushes over the hard bark-like skin protecting Rosie’s abdomen. A head cranes back to take in all of Rosie.

“Wow, you’re tall, aren’t you? Taller than I remember. What was I saying? Oh, right! There are lots of things inside a plant person that people want. Medicines. Drugs. Tasty treats. You know, there is even a legend that the inner core of a plant person can bestow immortality! Some story, huh? Then again, there must be SOME reason that plant people have been hunted almost to extinction.”

Knuckles rap on the hard bark of Rosie’s abdomen.

“Of course, when plant people sleep like this, their skin gets very hard and thick, for protection against predators.”

Knuckles strike harder.

“Ow! Yeah, that’s pretty hard, all right. It’s so hard that I could never get in.”

The figure’s balance shifts as it grasps the bulky object in both hands.

“That is, I could never get in without THIS!”

The chainsaw roars to life.

“Now, where are the goodies hiding? Let’s try the arms first, shall we?”

Wood chips fly everywhere as the chainsaw bites into Rosie. The device’s vibrations cause the withered flowers that make up Rosie’s hair to start dropping to the deck, one by one.

THEREALME

In the darkness of the Epsilon’s cargo compartment, piles of chopped wood pieces litter the whole area. The small figure wipes sawdust out of its eyes as it looks down. Then a kick sends half of Rosie’s head bouncing across the deck. A toe gingerly prods the interior of the other half.

“Huh. Like an empty coconut! Who would have thought that plant folk have no brains? Heh. That’s a good one. Have to remember that. Well, I must be getting close now! Not too many places left to look!”

The chainsaw is retrieved and once more screams to life. It starts to carve its way into Rosie’s bare, limbless, headless torso when suddenly a viscous liquid starts to spray everywhere.

“Ah! I hit goo! Finally! That… that thing I need! It’s in here, somewhere, isn’t it?”

Carefully, an opening is made in the surface as the sap inside slowly bubbles up and flows out onto the deck. Hands reach inside the gash to grasp a round object about the size and shape of a football. Pressure is exerted.

“Come on, now! Come on! I need to get at…”

With a cracking sound, the heart-seed pulls loose.

“At last!”

The small figure ravenously attacks the object, biting off huge chunks and swallowing them half-chewed.

“Mmmm, good! Good! Tastes good! Tastes like walnuts!”

Finished with consuming the heart-seed, the figure leaps up and frantically jams its head inside Rosie’s torso to start slurping up the sap still bubbling there. This continues for a while, but eventually the figure calms itself and drops down to the deck.

“Whew!! Well, that certainly hit the spot! But look! Now I’m a gooey mess! I’ll have to go get cleaned up and then prepare for the return of the rest of the crew. I bet they’ll be surprised!”

The figure gets up and starts to leave the cargo compartment, then pauses at the door.

“Rosie? Rosie was the name, wasn’t it?”

The figure dashes back to the ruin of Rosie’s upper torso and pulls free the red dress that Rosie always wore around her neck.

“This I’ll keep. Like a memento!”

Soul still hadnt returned and Wisp was getting worried. Safe layed on his bed asleep in the same position hed been in for an hour. Seryn was still cradeling the little girl who was openly sobbing into her breast. Wisp was pacing again and his circuit got into the vicinity of Needy.

"Needy You Ok??" he asked trying to stand in his eyeline.

Needy spoke but it wasnt to him it just seemed like mumbelling so Wisp walked off. Needy's imaginary friend though was still sat on the bed by Needy.

"Why did you do this??" Needy asked her, his voice had long since given up on sanity or emotion.

"I had to"It responded "You were going in the right direction but you were on the wrong path. I had to repair the situation"

"But why the others???"

"Because each of them has a part to play in your story"

Wisp had returned to his pacing when all of a sudden he heard a whirr from his restraiment bracer. All of a sudden he felt very woosey, His vision blurred round the edges and he felt like he'd pass out so he staggered back to his bed. just as he laid down the bed was raised into the celing into a bright light.

When Wisp came round he was sat on a metal chair in front of a desk. A bright light illuminated him but the rest of the room was pitch black. he tried to stand but found his legs werent responding. He tried to wiggle his toes but to no avail. He assumed it was an epidural to stop him escaping.

Two figures appeared out of the gloom. Not from a door just from a hidng place in the abyss. One of them sat at the desk while the other stood at his left. Both of them wore impecabley neat suits with a red lapel on the left shoulder.

"Please confirm your personal details for the record" The man from the desk said without emotion or tone.

"Who are you?? what do you want??"

The second man didnt speak he just slapped Wisp across the face with the back of his hand making his head swim as the pain fused with his previous wound.

"You are William Spacer born on Aerial. Your parents were curators at the Earth That Was museum. Names Andrew And Jayne Spacer. You have a sister.."

"No I dont" Wisp interrupted. The second man stepped forward but the first restrained him by turning his head

"One Danielle Spacer three years old. She was born the year after you deserted from Aeriel military academy."

Wisp inwardly recoiled at the news. 'He had a SISTER' although it didnt affect his life at the time it still affected his life. Unless....

If they invented a sister then they could kill a sister in front of him. It could be a interrogation tactic. He'd learned some details about it at the academy and a LOT more from gangsters who were worried about information being passed to rivals.

"Now Ensign Spacer" Military rank he had-Sign of control. He decided to undermime their superiority by inwardly degradding them. He called the man who was sat Small penis because he couldnt see it and therefore he must be hidng it. The stood man became Bum Fun because he couldnt sit down.
"Tell me about how you got here"

"I have no idea"

"Of course you do Mr Spacer. You are by far the most intelligent of your little Rabble you must have developed the technology"

"I did no such thing. We have no idea how we got here it was just an accident"

"Thats not true Mr Spacer" Tiny stated like he had solid facts to the contrary "We have similar technology that you undoubtedly could have heard about and upgraded. If you dont give us the technology I acnt guarantee the safety of you and your friends."

Threat the first interogation technique. Before hand they decide wether to threaten, Bribe, appeal to morals, or convinve them its evil not to.

"Well I Might be able to think of something" Wisp took his hand and pretended to scratch under his left arm. Then he threw it out into flipping the bird at winky.

"Regretfull"

CITIZEN

Citizen woke to the pounding in his head, a common reaction it would seem these days. He was careful not to open his eyes, and listened for a moment. He wasn’t in a cell, didn’t sound right, it sounds echoed longitudinally like in a tunnel. The ground wasn’t wet; neither was it damp, but it felt like it was often wet, cold stone that almost felt spongy. He was still in the tunnel network, probably in the barracks complex at the other end of the communications tunnel. The sounds were coming a bit clearer now, more distinct from the echoes that they caused. It was the sound of footfalls approaching intermingled with the sound of animated voices.
“It can’t be him, he’s dead!” The first voice exclaimed.
“I’m telling you, it’s him! Dead spit and if it isn’t him how did he know about the tunnels?”

The footfalls ceased and the Citizen could feel that the two men were quite close. The second bent forward, close to Citizen’s face.
“You’re right, he’s gotta be an Alliance plant or something, prosthetics, he can’t be still alive!” The man’s face was inches from Citizen’s now, he decided to take action.

Citizen’s eyes flickered open and as the man’s face began to etch surprise Citizen shot forward and bit down on his nose. As the man screamed in shock and pain Citizen swung his legs around and swept the second man off his feet, hitting his head on a crate, knocking him unconscious on the way down. Citizen glared at the man as his teeth bit into the soft flesh and cartilidge of his nose.
“Ungoo y angs!” He hissed. The emotions of pain anger and fear competing for real estate on the man’s face were joined by confusion. “Ungoo y angs!” Citizen shouted more emphatically. “y angs!” He shouted again twisting the man’s round and showing him his bound hands.
“You want me to undo your hands?” The man whimpered.
“Gair!” Citizen replied nodding, compelling the man to let out a few yelps of pain. He timidly reached around and undid Citizen’s bonds.

Citizen pushed the man away and spat out his blood and mucus before he retrieved the side arm from the second. He checked the chamber and looked down on the first man holding his nose and whimpering in pain.
“I’m really sorry.” Citizen said. The man glared back at him, tears in his eyes.
“You nearly bit my rutting nose off!” He exclaimed.
“No not about that, it’s, well I can’t believe I’m going to say it.”
“Say what?”
“I come in peace, take me to your leader.”

SAFEAT2ND

Seryn’s cry cut through the drug induced slumber, bringing Safe, reluctantly, back to reality.

Safe pries his eyes open in time to see Wisp’s bed disappear into the ceiling. Looking around, Safe notices that Soul is still missing, Needy is still struggling with inner demons, and then locks eyes with Seryn. Hers, initially, is a mixture of worry and a little fear which changes to grim determination.

Seryn nods slightly at Safe and grips Ghost a little tighter.

“Seryn….” Safe starts before the darkness of the drug claim him again. There was something he had to tell her, but it slipped away like soap in a bath.

“Captain...”
‘Why would Seryn call me captain?’ Safe thought.

“Captain!!” This time the voice was more insistent and definitely lower than Seryn’s.

‘Seryn must be getting a cold’ Safe thought as he floated idly in the darkness ‘She’s starting to sound more than a little hoarse. But I’m not gonna be the one to tell her. Oh nosiree.’

A bucket of cold water snapped Safe's eyes open, only for them to shut rapidly in a squint at the bright light.

“Geez, Seryn, you really gotta work on your bedside manners…”

“Nice of you to join us Captain Franklin. We have much to talk about…”

The door opened to a lift which was just as spartan as the room. Inside was a young man roughly 19 like her. His hair was slicked back with buckets of hair product and he wore an immaculately pressed suit. His features were sharp but worn.

"Miss Goddard im here on the behalf of Mr Cizao he would like to meet with you"

"Me?? Why??" She replied with attitude veiling surprise

SERYN

The new room was just like the old – sterile, white, door and windowless, ‘cept this one had work tables and storage systems dotted about, and the chink of metal objects alerted her to the fact that she wasn’t alone.

Working at another bench behind her was a doctor - youngish, tallish, well bred type -looked like he made his mama proud – pretty much Alliance through and through. He spared her only a few glances, seemingly waiting for something and using up his time absently filling paperwork in.

Then she realised what he was waiting for. Over to one side of the room, almost obscured from view by the bed she was seated on, a man in a dark suit, deep red flashes here and there, read from a handful of papers. Amongst the papers she could see images, and she easily recognised shots of her younger self.

“Your life has been eventful Ms Antares, yes, don’t think we don’t know who you are.”

She pushed herself up till she could sit independently of the beds support, and rolled her eyes and the gloomy looking guy. “Oh don’t break anything patting yourself on the back will you? Its isn’t like I haven’t been leaking enough DNA for you to test all over the place lately."

He spared her one stern glance, then carried on as he was. “Ms Seryn Antares, wife to one of the most promising politicians the Core Planets had ever seen. Then that dreadful… accident. And now you find yourself scrabbling around this dirty rock. How the mighty fall."

She folded her arms and fixed him with her own clear un-amused gaze, if he was going to play it out in such a clichéd way, the least she could do was make him realise what an ass he was.

“Still, a remarkable feat for a dead woman. Yes, that was quite clever I will admit. And we would be very interested in learning how you managed to delay your child’s birth, but we have a lot of time left to discuss that.

For now, we will simply ask you for your knowledge of how you came here.”

The confusion continued “How I came here? “ She stalled, trying to work out if they were interested in the Tree. “I came aboard my ship, attached to another – I piggybacked from one place to another, then we landed… and I cooked barbeque chicken.”

Don’t try to be smart, Ms Antares, you know exactly what we wish to know – Your crew caused an event to occur that we would be very interested in replicating. We believe it would be of immense value to our cause, and we believe you will tell us before long.”

She failed to stop an amazed laugh from escaping, she shook her head slowly “Oh but you see, there you’re wrong, I’ve no idea, I came here as part of an impromptu convoy - I had no control over my destination, and still less over mode of travel. Now can you just quit the arch creepiness and just knock me around a bit so I can go back to sleeping?

He smiled coldly. “Oh, I’m not going to harm you Ms Antares. There is no need for it in your case, we already have a much stronger hold over you, and as time goes on, you will become co-operative."

His cold certainty made her blood chill “What do you mean?”

The smile hardened, and he deliberately ignored the question, moving slowly around so that she was forced to twist around to follow his progress “For now, you will be treated by some of the best medical professionals we have to offer – I doubt anything can be done for that knee, but they are so keen to try. Then you will be kept here, in really very comfortable accommodation, an entire cell to yourself, until the child is delivered, then you will be transferred elsewhere. You appear to be a troublesome kind of woman. That idiocy with the commander outside has made us think twice about your ability to function in a civilised world.2

Her eyes briefly dipped, the truth of the matter was, he wasn’t wrong – her ill judged attack on the commander had led directly to this. But just as she supposed she was impetuous and rash, she was also bad a dwelling on the past, she had more urgent concerns.
“And the child?”
“Sorry?”
“My child.”
“Oh, adoption maybe? Perhaps the childs grandmother would be happy to take him in?”

Boiling now, she shifted forward, ready to leap at him as he crossed to the access platform beyond her; she felt cool hands pulling her back to the pillows. Swinging around, she saw the doctor stood, syringe already stuck in the tubes leading into her hand.

“Oh please no more drugs! I’m beginning to feel like Judy Garland”

He looked at her, blankness tinged with confusion. “She was. an actress… Earth-that –was, famously … controlled by… her managers with… drugs.”

When she awoke, she was tilted at a funny angle, propped and restrained, with her damaged leg pulled up and held in position. She figured dignity hadn’t been at the top of the bed designer’s features list. Able to raise her head a little, she looked down to see the same doctor stood over her damaged knee, inspecting an image that hovered in the air a few hand widths above.

He manipulated the image this way and that, then spoke, though she couldn’t see to whom. They were discussing her, she knew that, but she couldn’t yet work out what they were saying. The doctor noticed her eyes open, and almost managed a smile.

“It will never be fully fixed, you’ll still get the occasional pains, and require a brace, but you will walk again.” He shrugged “much good as that will do you”

The doctor continued to work, talking as he went, then seemed to find all that he was looking for, and turned away. His colleague came into view – nurse, and he sent him to acquire hard copies of their scans. He watched him exit the room, still as a statue until the doors closed with a soft click, the suddenly turned and pressed his hand over her mouth. She felt the coldness of metal at her throat, and resisted her first impulse to struggle.

“Make no sound, do you hear? Continue on from this moment exactly as you ever have, mention this to no-one out side this room – they monitor every square inch of this facility besides this room – the equipment is too sensitive to risk the interference - and do not, do not, betray me to them, or I will find you and do things to you that they couldn’t conceive of even in their wildest fantasies.

Do we understand each other?”

She nodded as shallowly as she was able.

“Antares? That really your name? What is your business here? Why are you with Franklin and the others? The one known as Needy? What is your relationship to them?” He paused, and his eyes creased slightly “Is that Seth’s child you carry?”

“No! No its not. She glared at him, and it’s not any of the other’s either, before you go grilling me. It belongs to no one here, and has no relevance to them, or you!”

He laughed, stepped away from the bed and observed the knee again. “A little argumentative for someone in your position.
Regardless, tell me what I want to know”.

“You tell me! Who are you to want to know? Why should I tell you anything? Why shouldn’t I tell the creepy guy? Why shouldn’t I just start screaming now and tell the entire place!”

He let a sigh out, and put his hand back over her mouth.” I’m a member of the rebellion, the underground, the resistance, call it what you will, I don’t care, but you reveal this to them and its not just me who will be gunning for your blood. Seth has friends. They suspected he was on the planet – tapped communications gave reports of someone like him, but as yet they don’t know he is here. They will soon. And they will be very interested in knowing all about if you and the others and if you are worth the trouble of removing you from this place.”

For a few moments she was lost for words. Was this a trap? Was it possible for them to infiltrate so deep into the Alliance system? Or was this a trick, to get her to talk? She still didn’t know what about. Tired however, of his hand clamped over her mouth, she took the quickest route to freeing herself. He yelped slightly as her teeth connected, and pulled his hand away, shaking it slightly.

“They are. The group, they are his crew, his friends; you’d have a hell of a time making him leave without them. But…

Look how do I know you are who you say you are? What if you’re just some guy who can act that they sent in to con me? I have no proof, I’m not about to say anything to you! How do I know what you will see as an offence? I’m not about to get them all killed.”

They guy sighed, and with the other hand, pulled up the hem of his scrubs top. Inked into the skin low on his abdomen was an old, crude tattoo, but she clearly recognised the Independents flag, and the number she assumed to be the guys old regiment.

“Couldn’t get it done on your arm eh?”

"I work hard for that washboard; need an excuse to show it off."

"Ok, I’m still not sure, but I’m good at random leaps of faith.. My name, as Mr Creepy said, is Seryn Antares, I married into an eminent, but corrupt, political family back on Londinuium”. She caught his expression, and nodded. “Yes, ain’t they all? But he was a good man. When he threatened to reveal some of their more dastardly deeds, they decided remove the threat.
They tried to take me with him, but I beat them to it, and left, ran away, scampered, hid,.
I met Safe, Soul, Wisp and Needy recently and on the spur of the moment followed them here. That’s all there is to it. Really. “

“So, why should we come to your rescue?”

She thought for a moment, mulling over the facts, and came to a realisation. Facing him again clear eyed and calm. “Don’t... Get them out – whatever you have to do, speed will be paramount. I can’t do that. So don’t rescue me. Just them.
I don’t know anything, so I can’t give you or them away. Besides, if they tell my inlaws I’m still alive, I’m safest in here anyway.”

“Oh how noble of you.”

. I’m making an informed decision – even with your miracle workers, I’ll not be mobile for weeks. I’ll endanger any plan of action, so I choose not to do that. Believe me, noble self sacrifice makes me want to hit people. But I can’t see any way of leaving as I am.”

He grinned. “I can.”
“Really? And what does that involve? “
“Not sure yet, tell you when I think of it... But one condition.”
“What?”
“Don’t bite me again.”

“Don’t make me need too.”
“I suppose I should have heeded the advice”
“What advice?”
“That you’re a biter, he did warn me.”
“Wait… what? That idiot sheriff is with you? “
“Yes! What, you didn’t get that?”
“No, I suppose I was to busy wanting to hurt him.”
“You may want to think about forgiving him – it was his heads up that made me request this assignment to you and that Needy guy – and through him I know where your other companion, the girl who was with you is now being held.”
“Vixen? You can get her out as well?”
“Yes, but not just yet..”
“So basically I have to wait, and not say anything, and leave it all up to you, to sit back and do nothing while you save everyone?”
“Yes.”
“I intensely dislike you”
“Warms my heart to hear you say so”
“I’m not joking, you an your sheriff friend. Fine, I’ll be a good girl, I won’t attempt anything. But get them all out, the little girl included, she has no reason to be here and she will be used to control us.”
“I’m way ahead of you.”

Blackness followed, and this time when she awoke fresh bandages swathed her leg from thigh to mid calf. A new set of splints held it rigidly in position and new tubes ran here there and everywhere. Pains started to work their way through the numbness, and she realised he’d already completed the operation on the joint.
“Have to get me this kind of treatment every time I get shot.” came the groggy thought.

She was distantly aware of voices in the room, and momentarily she yearned to tell them what she knew, but sleep over took her again.

ooc - ok, this is maybe skipping too far ahead, sorry! Working on a summary, just not doing very well!

And by the way Wisp, you couldn't have got me shot anywhere else? a shattered knee cap is not recoverable! probably not even with all the advanced tech.
I'm going to get you back you know, as far as i'm awaere syphilis is still not fun.

OOC-That was Immense!!! im intriuged and excited!!! And i didnt break your knee cap just your cartlige. You should be walking again in a month now-adays so they can fix that for you-anyway

Wisp was dragged from the blackness by a bucket of icy water. His eyes were bloodshot and wiry from the lack of sleep, pain, and sudden cold. His hair was hanging wildly from his head and his clothes were drenched and tattered.

His body was filled with bruises. Both his eyes were blackened, his lip was bust fully along his bottom lip, and his body was littered with other marks. Most painfully to Wisp were the burns across the palms of his hands. His tshirt was ripped showing slashes of various sizes and depths across his chest.

"Come on William were not finished yet" Wisps vision had long since abandoned him and his ears were ringing from the violent onslaught.

"No-one calls me William" Wisp breathed through his shattered lips. A blow cam to his chest from the darkness around him. A rib finally buckled under the continualy attacks and he heard the crack as it snapped. He tried to scream but his lungs burned like a furnace as the muscles tried to contract around the jagged bone.

"Your Parents call you William. And at the academy they called you William. Why did you leave the academy you were such a talented individual, You surpassed all your classmates in exams and we invested so much in you but you betrayed us by leaving. Why??"

"I didnt want it. Your life. It wasnt fair on anyone else"

"Thats a lie William. You ran away because you were scared. You were terrified of what you saw while looking where you werent supposed to. The files you accesed were secure for a reason you had no business looking at them"

"It doesnt make them any less true" Wisp had no idea where the next blow came from or contacted as his entire body was tingling with pain. Nerves were dying throughout his skin as the constant barrage of impulses burned out axons.

"What about your Parents William?? They were very upset by your death"

"Death??"

"We couldnt say you escaped so we told them youd been killed while selling technology to the independants. You chose to be a traitor so we made you a traitor. What about your sister doesnt she deserve to know her brother??"

"I dont have a sister" Wisp repeated it in his mind.

"What are these then??" The man was holding some papers Wisp assumed were photographs. The man held them so Wisp could see but they were nothing but blurs

"You can edit those"

"Yes yes we knew you wouldnt believe it so we also made this" There was a click and a disembodied voice filled the room. Wisp hadnt heard it in years...It was his mothers.

'So what do you want me to say???

were just following up the death of your son say anything you want

Well that was three years ago now. We were very upset but he was a traitor to the alliance so we disowned him as soon as we heard. Weve got little Danielle now so we can move on'

"Hear that. Your Parents disowned you William. You have no family now. You have nothing left. Tell us so you can rest"

"My family is locked up in that room" a Fist cracked his face deepening the bruises.

"Now back to the matter at hand. I know you saw short range quantum teleporters but you travelled thousands of stellar miles how??"

"I dont know" Wisp tried to plead "I didnt control it nobody did it just happened I put it down to a subspace tear" The next blow wasnt a fist it was some sort of object with a rough edge, the result tore across his face opening the ancient scar on his cheek. Blood gushed out of it pouring over himself and the floor.

The voice didnt alter at the fresh wound. "Was it a more powerful version?? Did you create a worm hole?? If so where is the gate and how did you fund it??" Wisp shook his head as it fell to his chest. "Im going to do something now that but I will only offer it once" A hand lifted his head but Wisp saw only light and dark infront of him but assumed there was also a mans face.

"If you tell me what you did ill give you full credit for it. You could win awards,A Nobel prize. You would be a very rich man William. Your own lab with an unlimited budget you could change the world"

The next motion of Wisps took all his power. He spat blood into where he assumed the mans face was. The reaction was instantaneous. Wisps chair was toppled and a pair of feet began kicking him. The barrage was focused on his chest but some blows landed on his face crotch and legs. Wisp passed out at least twice but was awoken by further blows. The third time the kicking stopped and the blackness swallowed him into a welcoming embrace.

He awoke to find the chair gone. Instead he was shackled to a wall by his hands above his head and his feet a good foot above the floor. His arm may have been dislocated but he couldnt tell. This room was lit in a red glow. He saw two figures enter the room but he still couldnt determine their faces. He saw enough to see the poker being extracted from the furnace though.

After several more hours of interrogation Wisp was let down. They would have continued but Wisp was now no longer capable of any sort of speach. He still didnt get the kind of clean advanced care that Seryn was getting. A single doctor with a first aid kit was thrown into the room.

Wisp was propped up in corner against the back wall completely naked. His body was covered in bruises, burns and blood. Barley an inch of skin was left unmarked. The doctor gasped in horror at the sight before her. To think how different he'd been just a few days ago.

The doctor sent into the room was none other than Dr Elizibeth Chou. A woman in her late twenties, young for a doctor, She was simply an intern and didnt understand why she had been chosen for this top secret assignment. She did now. It was easy for an intern to be dissapeared compared to an attending.

She stood at a middle height with a slender frame. She wasnt toned and wore a few curves but she looked better for it. Her hair was very dark and thrown straight behind her back. She had a thin face that reflected her ancient Japanese ancestry.

She rushed to the broken unconsious frame of the boy in the corner but when she arrived she didnt know where to start. His rib was broken in such away that there was a visible dent in his chest. His face was bleeding thoroughly from a large gash. On top of that were at least twelve large burns four of which were First degree. She hurridly decided to see to his face first.

Wisps eyes fluttered open. "You" His voice was barely audible and croaked through his throat. She looked at his mouth then her eyes fell to his throat.

"Dont speak" Her voice was high filled with fear "Your Larynx is bruised and you have two broken ribs another two are fractured and ...oh my god. What did you do??"

Wisp tried to lift his arm but found no energy. "Go. Get away" He winced at the pain that speaking brought. She responded by giving him double the reccomnded dose of morphine sending him into a pain free spiral for the countless time that day

SERYN

ooc - post brought to you by Quentin Tarantino...
yikes! Peril!
Quote:

At this point, the situation is this -

Having evaded the Epsilon's previous owner, Safe, with Citizen and his crew on board the two ships, the Epsilon and the Dagger, has returned to Boros, to meet up again with Seryn, Needy, and hopefully Wisp and Vixen. Seryn and Needy had remained behind in the flight to look for Wisp and Vixen who had plummeted to an uncertain fate during a tussel. They (S & N) had managed to find Vixen, and in attempting to get her medical help, had ended up in the local jail, where Vixen previous misdemeanors where uncovered and got her sent to the Halo facility - an Alliance prison on the planet. S & N were freed, and after a brief mooch around a local bar, decided to set off for the town that the facility was in, and try and find some way of locating Wisp, (who unknown to them had been found by three kids, Truth, Shadow and Ghost, and sent to the hospital) and rescuing Vixen.
Safe had left the crew completing repairs to the Dagger, and hired a hover-mule , in which, unknown to him, the small child Ghost was hiding. Getting into town just as S & N were heading that way (don't you love it when its all neat like that?)

In the larger town, Soul, now dressed in a uniform of some sort, joins them, and Safe gets hold of scrubs for them, and they prepare to try and infiltrate the hospital in search of Wisp, when the boy himself emerges from an alley way. Overjoyed they go to greet him, and only realise they are being ambushed by Alliance troops when it is too late.

Surrounded on all sides by purplebellies, they have little option but to try and get back to the mule and fight their way out. In an effort to confuse and disorganise the soldiers, Seryn attacks and trys to incapacitate their cammander. With a pencil. It turns out to be a really stupid thing to do, it doesn't work at all, and triggers a firefight in which all but Needy and Soul are injured in some way.

All are moved to a secure section of the hospital, and treated as their captors, a group called The Crimson Guard, see fit.

Also in the hospital is a man, one of the doctors, who claims to be a member of the underground movement, and is working on a way of getting them out.

Hopefully soon, as if Wisp keeps writing himself treatment like this, he's going to be paste before long, and no nifty manouvering is going to get him out other than in a bucket.

Also, back on the Epsilon, Rosie, the tree lady who they made friends with on the first night there, has been attacked and pretty brutally savaged by a very creepy shady little character, so i would say that she is no more, but fear not! TRM has promised us that he's not through with the baranch yet.
