IMO, cold turkey never works. Perhaps, make a pizza night once a week or two weeks. Or limit yourself to buying a certain amount of your vice per week. Then buy less each week as time goes on. There's also buying the more healthy stuff of what you like e.g. buy dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate.

There's also eating less in general. In Canada, our portions are twice the size of the Europeans, and in the US (in my experience) twice the Canadian size. The Europens also don't really snack. In North America, we have serious problems with people being overweight and/or obese. In Europe, not so much. Go figure.

Basically, don't try to do everything at once. What I'm (we're?) going for here is more along the lines of a lifestyle change which will benefit me (us?) for the rest of my (our?) lives. These things don't happen overnight. They take time and energy.

There is no magic bullet.


That probably wasn't the insperational thing that you wanted to hear, but that's the reality.


But, you've done some great first steps! Keep it up

Just an idea, but perhaps some push-ups, sit-ups, etc first thing in the morning. Just enough to be 10-20 mins. Should be able to fit that in daily.

Hi all!

I've been sick for a good portion of this week: 102 fever and everything, so I haven't exercised as much as I'd have liked to. But today I power walked 2 miles and did some pilates, so I feel better!

About Fast Food Nation: I read it about 4 years ago and of course was disgusted and didn't eat any fast food for a couple years, but then it started creeping back into my life. But luckily I don't eat fast food very much--it's too expensive!

Also, McDonald's got in big trouble about their fries...can't remember who was asking whether they were vegetarian friendly but I just read an article a couple months ago that said the fries still have a beef tallow derivative. McD's says it's veggie friendly, but a lot of veggie organizations don't agree.

The thread is getting so big! I'm very impressed with everyone- good work! I didn't get to the gym but managed to get in some sit-ups, squats, and a few lunges. Not great but it'll do.

SASSALICIOUS


My roommate and I rented it yesterday and watched it tonight. I now find fast food more nauseating before and related pretty well to the scene where he threw up in the beginning.

Didn't work out today. Worked, walked to/from work, and then was a bum. I'm still a bit achy from diving. Off to the gym tomorrow.
