Hey all

Was just looking at the SLITHER thread and had posted that I was looking forward to that as well as V FOR VENDETTA.

I was just wondering. I know it's a bit too early to be marking movies that are coming out this year as must see flicks, but what are some flicks that are coming out this year that you're kind of looking forward too?

For me, at the top of the list are SUPERMAN RETURNS and CLERKS 2. I know some people might have had a problem with CLERKS 2 when it was first announced, but the way I see it, no one accused Richard Linklater of selling out when he did BEFORE SUNSET. And anyone whose seen the teaser for SUPERMAN RETURNS knows that it's a geek's dream come true.

As for other flicks, just looking through the tenative schedule, I'm intrigued by AMERICAN DREAMZ, SILENT HILL, RV, the two 9/11 flicks, M:1-3, POSEIDON, DA VINVI CODE (should read the book before seeing the flick, or should I?), X3 (after seeing the full trailer, I'm willing to give it the benefit of a doubt), THE BREAK-UP, NACHO LIBRE, CARS, CLICK, PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN 2, A SCANNER DARKLY, YOU, ME AND DUPREE, LADY IN THE WATER, APOCALYPTO, GRINDHOUSE, THE BLACK DAHLIA, SUNSHINE, THE DEPARTED, HAPPY FEET, TENACIOUS D IN THE PICK OF DESTINY, FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, THE GOOD SHEPARD and if it actually gets a release this year, INLAND EMPIRE which is the latest mind-fuck from David Lynch.

Oh, and I just recently remembered. SOUTHLAND TALES, the latest from Richard (DONNIE DARKO) Kelly, starring our friendly neighborhood vampire slayer.

I'm interested in seeing how Silent Hill turns out. From what I've heard, it may be the first to get the game to movie film right.

X3 - Loved the trailer (first one, second one was okay too)

NACHO LIBRE - Mildly entertaining

PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN 2 - Meh, it's something to watch

I'm definitely looking forward to CLERKS 2. I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan, and from what I've seen of his Train Wreck video diaries, I think he's doing right by the characters.

I'm not big on Darren Aronofsky, but THE FOUNTAIN looks like such a cool idea. Three parallel story arcs about a man's search for the fountain of youth, each story set 500 years after the previous.

While I'm on the topic of directors, Guillermo del Toro's PAN'S LABYRINTH looks amazing thus far. If you haven't seen the trailer, I recommend you seek it out.

And I'm really looking forward to CASINO ROYALE, if only because I really want all the Daniel Craig haters out there to just shut up. I hope it's good, and I hope it does well, because I'll always enjoy a Bond film (Die Another Day not included).

As far as the other big films go, I want to be excited for X-MEN 3 and SUPERMAN RETURNS, but when Bryan Singer left X3 for Superman, I lost my faith in the Fox people to keep going with actually good X-Men films. Either one might be decent, but I'm not holding out any hope.

I feel pretty pretty confident that PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 2 is gonna be good. It's gonna be huge, but at least it'll be good.

At the moment, I'm aware of: Cars, Superman Returns, X3, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, V for Vendetta, and. . . that's about it at the moment. There are probably others that I haven't heard of (living in the ass-end of nowhere) that I'll try to find when they come out.

I’m not too enthused over 2006. V For Vendetta looks promising and I plan to see this soon, but I didn’t even know about this until recently, so it’s not something that I’ve been following. Superman Returns looks good, and probably will be, but I’m not all that hyped, maybe I will be when I know more about it. Although I’m thinking that this just doesn’t really look all that fresh and original; call me crazy. They abandon projects to bring classic scifi, like the Mars books or Rama, to the silver screen in favor of redoing things that have already been redone, like Superman and King Kong. If it weren’t for the occasional spectacular marvel like Serenity or Narnia, I’d just give up on Hollywood all together.

America: From Freedom to Fascism by Aaron Russo is about the rise of the Evil Anglo-Sino Alliance - FOR REAL.

DOWNLOAD MOVIE TRIALER:

Quote:

Russo's DVD is a dramatic wake up call that stirs the full range of emotions. It presents, in an absorbing, credible, fact-filled fashion, America's chief domestic problem: the fall of Freedom and the rise of fascism, tyranny, despotism and the police state. The film begins by documenting the dual frauds of 1913, the federal income tax and the Federal Reserve System, and covers topics such as the national ID card, human chip implants, vote fraud, government lying and spying, CODEX and the New World Order. The feature film, done in a style similar to last year's documentary by Michael Moore, "Fahrenheit 911," presents a common-man's perspective of how we our losing our Freedom and the Republic to the IRS, the banking cartel and the effects of corporate domination.

Slither looks funny but gross. Too bad Nathan's a cop, but hopefully a funny cop who kills bad, uh, things. I liked it better when he was shooting cops in the head on Serenity. I had to cross-examine a sheriff deputy on the witness stand today, which was "fun", for a $250 traffic ticket at 5mph. The cops and prosecutors and judge refused to honor my subpoena to see the cop's in-car video, which didn't show me perping the victimless non-crime, but did show the cop perping 5 criminal misdemeanors for which he can serve 1-year in jail. Nathan will make people like cops again, I guess. Looks like a good scream. Too bad the copsters are carjacking me and stealing all my money, and stealing my cars, so I'll be lucky to see the movie anytime soon. Addictive online video game shooting slugs:

V4Vendetta is about glorifying the Bush Crime Family bombing the British Parliament, to justify Bush bombing USA on 9/11/2001. Constable Thomas Percy was gunned down and summarily executed for the Gunpowder Plot to bomb Parliament in 1605. He was the lucky one... Barbara Pierce Bush's family name was changed from Percy when they immigrated from England.

The V4V website has all the history of the G Plot of 1605, but I'm not entirely sure why, since the movie is about modern "terrorist heroes". I'll check it out, for its brainwash SFX.

The Bush Crime Family, Bin Ladens and Queen of England currently owns Serinity TBDM, via Pentagon Carlyle Group's purchase of Universal for its propaganda value, spiking River's MKULTRA Project Monarch slave program for the CIA.

The Most Dangerous Game is a documentary by Guerilla News Network, about Cathy O'Brien and her daughter Kelly, who were some of Joss' models for River, in the CIA's Project Monarch slave program. The Blue Room torture of River in Serenity TBDM is straight out of O'Brien's books at www.Trance-Formation.com . But the Power That Be spiked the movie, just like they spiked Firefly and Serenity. Hopefully, it will see the light of a movie theatre. You can see clips from the censored movie:

Personally, I'd say neither. I thought the book was very poorly written. Some of the most two-dimensional characters I've ever had the displeasure to read.

Then again, Tom Hanks is in it, so he may have a chance.

NEEDY

The road to Hel is paved with good intentions

Well I'm going to completely unoriginal and agree with many of the films already mentioned

SUPERMAN RETURNS I absolutely cannot wait for.

Since Smallville I've become obsessed with the mythos and, although I grew up and liked the Chris Reeve films, its only now that I've fallen in love with the character.
Before it was Spidey this and Spidey that.
So the fact that there is a new Superman movie, which is not only a sort-of-sequel to Superman 1 & 2 but is directed by Bryan Singer, has got me thoroughly excited.
The trailer looks awesome too

Then again, I could be really disappointed.

Slightly lower on my list of expectations is X3
Normally this should be on par with Superman but because its no longer being handled by Singer but by Brett Ratner, I'm trying not to get too excited. Having said that, I think both trailers look great and promise huge things - namely that War that has been hinted at in the previous movies.

Lastly, I eagerly await the adaptations of THE DA VINCI CODE and V FOR VENDETTA - two stories I'm halfway through reading at the minute

(Well, not at this minute, cos I'm typing this)

BTW - CallmeAth is entitled to his opinion but I happen to think Da Vinci Code is a fantastic book, one that you cant put down - well I can put it down cos I like to drag things out, but both my mum and best friend read it in a matter of days cos it was so "unputdownable" (I think I just made that word up)

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about A Scanner Darkly

I never read the book and don't actually know much about the story, but the trailers have certainly got me intrigued and I'm quite looking forward to seeing that

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 should be fun too
