How are they doing Mardi Gras, isn't it traditionally held at NO?

It is happening in NO. They have had to make some adjustments to the normal run though. They had to cut the big parades down to four. That upset a lot of people. See, with the Dome out of commission, that left only one venue large enough to accomodate the larger krewes. Which meant only one could run in a day, instead of the usual two. The smaller parades are still running. But there will only be a few big events. My dad is in Endymion. One of the large krewes given the permit this year.

He says it's a mess and a little sad. But he wants to be there and try to bring the city back.

Oh, but look, CMS! Not only can play softball, you're a heavy hitter....

Scene: midmorning, on a sidewalk in front of TWG CoMiX. A woman leans against the wall, waiting for the shop to open. She watches the light traffic on the street, and people passing on the sidewalk. A second woman strolls up, and they strike up a conversation…
Limi: Hey, CMS! How was the game yesterday? You guys played the Whedonesque team, didn’t you?
CMS: Good game, we won 10-7.
Limi: Get any decent hitting in?
CMS: I got a couple runs actually, and stole second again, I was hot.
Limi: Good job! You've been smacking the ball this season.
CMS: My first up Coach has me batting cleanup. WildigsTart on 2nd, Casualison on 3rd. I got a single to right on the first pitch, but the fielder bobbled it, Cas scored, and The Wild One advanced to 3rd. Next up was Seryn, who hit a high fly to left center that dropped in the hole for a double, and I scored.
Limi: You’re a southpaw, aren’t you CMS?
CMS: Switch
Limi: You said 2 runs?
CMS: My second up, with Cozen on 2nd, I bunted and I might have been toast but the ball took a hop away from the pitcher and I got on first. Cozen advanced to 3rd. I left the base early, the catcher tried to throw down but I got to second standing up.
Limi: How many times have you stolen 2nd this season?
CMS: 7 so far. Anyway, PR was up next. He hit a single past short, Cozen scored, and I got to have a nice chat with that cute new 3rd base coach. Longer chat, turns out, because Dr Evil grounded out, then Citizen hit a pop fly the pitcher got under. Spinny was up next. He hit a nice single down the first base line and I scored.
Limi: Not bad, girl
CMS: My third up I was left on base, but Safe scored a bases loaded homer that inning, so all in all it was a good game.
Limi: It looks like this place is never going to open. I was hoping for something interesting to read, since it looks like it might be a while till Rel gets around to chapter 3. Do you have time for a cappuccino?
CMS: That place around the corner has a yummy chocolate mousse.
Limi: My treat.
CMS: Punky did the dance of 1000 bras.
Limi: She's such a maniac.

The women stroll off down the sidewalk together. As the round the corner, they pass several men, whose jaws drop in amazement at their style and grace.

And you two! ROFLMAO and a stitch in my side from the LOL about this OS extreme silliness! w00t! w00t! w00t! Computer geeks rule!

BWAHAHAHAH!!!

Limmy, thou art more funny than is normally considered healthy. Oh, that was funny!

Of course, I didn't understand half of it, but I got the gist.

If you ask if I'm a southpaw and I saw "Switch" what the heck does that mean? Does it mean I switch sides? Cuz I only do that in putt-putt. I can only swing leftie.

And IMHO, best part of all: "Costumes by Seryn".

lol!!!

And I'm glad you understood the men folk and their computer babble because I have NO CLUE again (could somebody talk about music or ancient greek or maybe even Firefly so I could contribute to a conversation maybe?) But I think we've established that I need some sort of Independent Party software so that my computer won't go all bi-partisan on me. Maybe something that edges toward Libertarian and that's very concerned with social welfare and the environment.

Oh, and somebody remind me to update the link to my LJ. It's changed and it's easier to remember, so of course I've forgotten it.

Is the homerun dance anything like the touchdown dance?

Oooh, speaking of sports (yes, I did just say that!) I went to my cousins' basketball game last night. It was very exciting. Play off game. The other team was obviously better, but our team tried really really hard and managed to lose by only 2 points. And that last point was a foul shot because our kids kept fouling out on purpose at the end so the other team couldn't score any more. The best was when one kid on our team bear hugged the kid from the other team who had the ball and threw him forward so he'd cross the line. It was funny!
Oh, and also the refs were crap. At one point, everyone on our side of the stands were stomping their feet and yelling "TRAVEL!! TRAVEL!!!" and the refs were just ignoring us. And then when the refs would actually make a good call, we'd all cheer and stomp some more. It was so bad I was noticing fouls the refs weren't calling. You KNOW that's bad. because I know [thismuch] about basketball.

I was trying to take pictures because my new camera claims to have a action feature, but it takes so long to snap a picture that you miss the good stuff.

Casual One, fourth base would be home, so girl you got to 4th at the same instant you scored, only as it should be ROFLM*&^&*AO
Cricket is softball through the looking glass - a wonderful sport. When I lived in Australia my friends had me play a spot they called 'silly mid on' just because the name made me laugh till there were tears. Cricket is wacky fun.

CMS: Glad you liked it Nah, I speak PC almost as well as I speak politics, but these computer sorcerers - brilliant and hysterical under a guise of so very reserved...
yup, 'switch' is batting right or left, a great way to rattle the pitcher.
The homerun dance is like the TD dance, both find their roots in that most ancient of dances: the Snoopy Dance. Ancient Greek I don't know, but what fun! Music is wonderful, write something about music - what kind do you mean?

Mystery Man = Seryn?!? Alright, how many of you lunatics have your freakin alias wearing an alias? I teased Chrisisall about the Chris nanos, but this is disturbing! How will I ever know who I'm talking to? Nothing is as it seems! *Wails* Mystery Man and I were meeting secretly in a blog, and now you know everything!

Then which of you is also AuRaptor, who is quite obviously two dimensional? CiTiZeN!?! Is that one of your twisted disguises?
Fishing is the best, even when you don't catch a thing. Bass fishing is extreme fun; they can put up such a fight, and there's nothing yummier than a fish you flip from hook to pan. Mmmm. Oooh, let's all go fishing! We can ask Hobbits to join us. Sam can cook fish with mushrooms, carrots, taters and onions and we'll have a feast.

There you go, my dear. One minute for each year old you are.

Limmy: Hmm..so, next time I play softball (which will probably be in, like 10 years) I'll have to see if I can hit right handed so I can do this "Switch" thing of which you speak and drive pitchers crazy. If I can do it in putt putt, I can do it in softball, right?

When we played softball in school I always had to bring my own mitt because they never had lefthanded ones.

I used to have to bring my own scissors, too.

And in college, I used to have to fight to get left handed desks, since most of them were those folding arm things that only sit on the right side. Very unfair.

Oh how I have suffered!

Hi Randomites! I've been having a weird couple of days... O.o (At least in my head.)

A dvd arrived yesterday, that had a recording of an Alias convention I'd attended a while back. It was a shock to finally get it. I thought the organisers had forgotten or something.

I got thinking about when the Serenity² dvd would arrive, 'cause the Alias one basically took about 19 months to get here. O.o

This morning, I heard a loud thump as something big fell through the letter box. It was another jiffy bag, and I knew instantly what it was!

I haven't watched all of it yet, but also, I haven't stopped laughing. On reflection, Serenity² was a really special event. There were lots of great moments that I'd forgotten about..

Have any Randomites received their copy yet?

(Also, I'm still getting over how fast its taken to arrive. There's four discs too. (Compared to the Alias dvd which just has one.) It's definitely been worth the money!

.. *Takes a deep breath*.. Oh boy.. I need a rest after saying all that.. What's happening with everyone else? How's everyone's day going?

I see the hot-headed one's chip includes some of Chris' genetic material, AUCitizen-is-all. I hope you got the raptor wing programming. Soaring is very useful. Oh, Citizen look! CMS' computer needs the software to do what they're also trying to figure out how to create in the RWE: her computer wants a lefty-libertarian OS! If you create the new vector OS for CMS in that jumped-up brain of yours, make a copy for RWE politics, would ya? In fact, make another copy for me so I can apply it to the feminist equation. Ooooh! We are all looking for the OS for a new way of thinking!!

CiTiZeN!!! AuRaZeN! CiTiRaPtOr! Whoever you think you are at this instant!! Stay out of range of Rel's zapper till we figure this thing. * hope he heard that*

ReLfExIvE! I think you may have been brainwashed by some ridiculously red and black costumed arm of the MI-Peacekeepers. I have heard that a beer and a nice paper of chips will reverse this conditioning. *puts beer, chips, ketsup, vinegar, mayonaise, and... other, um... likely condiments... on the table for Rel* Please put down the remote and enjoy some tasty chips.

...thinking as fast as her tiny unaugmented brain can manage*this could be worse than I thought, hopefully no one else is affected by this madness*
Safe! Please keep that hammer handy. Oh! Do you have a lefty hammer for CMS, just in case?
Dammit, we should not need to resort to emergency repair procedures, I like these twisted former humans...how to avoid bashing...think! think! Aaaak! Well, possibly the remote could be bashed, but let's not be hasty....

When I worked as a Barman one of the Waitresses came into the Kitchen and asked for a left handed fork. The Chef took the fork off her and put it in her left hand, then told her to give it too the customer...

I've since heard that or at least a variation as a joke, but it's a true story, funny as hell too...

CALLMESERENITY

I just like to say that whenever something doesn't work right for me, it's because it's righthanded. Righthanded pen or whatever.

It all started when I was on a mission trip in high school roofing homes that had been ruined in a hurricane. There were an abnormally large number of lefties on the crew and we all joked about left and right handed hammers and if a nail bent it was becuase it was righthanded and work on the lefty hammers.

But it's surprising how many things really are designed to be used by the right hand only. It does get frustrating sometimes when things are always backwards.

But I'm babbling now.

Thinking… thinking… rummaging through the mental file cabinet, scattering thoughts everywhere… “Wait, what’s this? An old thread? ’10 Things I Learned Watching Serenity’… Maybe a souped-up forklift is a better mule,,, no, that’s not it… Transformers make great Reaver ships, no that won’’t help... Any weapon can be borrowed from any other part of the Buffy-verse. Hmmm, River’s blood drenched Reaver sword? River? Simon?!? Brain surgery! That’s it!”

Ok, now to bend the thread around in an arc to pick up an earlier version of Citizen who isn’t in a Raptor fugue state. I’m sure I saw a mirrored door in that hallway back there

Here we go, through the looking glass into Simon’s surgery…

Hours later, after Limi has assisted Simon with the removal of Citizen’s AU chip, under the watchful eyes of Safe and CMS, who stood nearby during the operation with their hammers cocked (in case something went terribly wrong), they all play cards while waiting for Citizen to wake from the anesthetic. CMS and Safe were able to put their hammers to good use, smashing the AU chip to smithereens.

Wonders how Rel is doing, pulls remote from pocket”Guys? CMS? Safe? There’s one more thing wants smashing, if you’re up for it.”
