Since every newbie seems to open a thread to introduce themselves I thought it would be okay to do so as well :-) Some facts about me:

Sex: male
Age: 22
Country: Germany
currently: student of linguistics
Other sci-fi stuff I like: Alien, Aliens, Star Wars IV to VI, Star Trek (TNG and the movies)

The first thing I will do now is a sweep through all the interesting threads. See you there :-)

Chris

Hey Chris, name's Chantal, I'm 20- so you live in Germany wow, sounds exotic compared to Australia.
How long have you been a Firefly fan?
Is the ff/serenity movement big in Germany??
Who's your favorite character???
Coz if you like Jayne I have a fanfic (well 1/2 a fanfic) posted on the site. Have a read if you want.

Have a great week/weekend (timezones make me hazy)

See you around the traps!

"Germany sounds exotic compared to Australia" - Oh my, I'll treasure this one forever ;-)

About your questions:

I've been a fan for a few weeks now. I read some good reviews of Serenity and there was always that little sidenote "based on a great series called Firefly". And that's it basically ;-) Never heard of it before because it wasn't telecasted in Germany (and most likely will never be).

I don't think the "movement" is that big here in Germany, yet existing I presume. But on the bright side, many people seem to know the movie, they did a good job of advertising it and it got mostly decent reviews. I still like the tv show a bit more, actually.

movie is okay --> Show is blow away (Maybe I should stop drinking black coffee...).

Favorite character? I'm afraid I really don't have one. I like the crew as a whole. Okay, maybe Simon, because he is a bit like me sometimes.

Chris (short for "Christian" by the way, but that's quite bulky)

Hey Chris, you can call me Chaz, or Red (I have Red hair)

What's so funny? I just think Germany sounds more interesting, it's not all shrimps and BBQ's and Croc hunters here but Germany has such a rich history.
We're just here because the Brits had crowded prisons.

Well my fave. character is Jayne, I think he's awesome. Mrs. Reynolds is probably my favorite my episode.

Never mind. I just never thought that someone would actually call our boring, industrial, stiff and pessimistic country "exotic" ;-)

Chris
