Another great episode.

Where are they going with this? Don't tell me. I'm spoiler free and have been for a few eps now (I highly reccomend the spoiler free lifestyle).

But this doesn't mean we can't speculate.

Gina is doing a great job as Jasmine. I'd love to see Jasmine's story arc last into next season.

Everyone is a Moony now except for Fred. Fred has no one to turn to. What a great time to bring back Kate the cop or Lindsey the reformed evil lawyer. Looks like Angel may snap out of it next week (guess he has to be clear headed when he heads to Sunnydale for the grand BTVS finale).

It's fun seeing Wes, Gunn and the crew fawning over the goddess. Some great lines throughout the whole episode. Did they use a non-pregnant body double for Cordy on that one cut away of her on the couch in the lobby?

Let's get this show renewed!

Yes, this episode was great. I love Gina's smile! No wonder they worship her!

I also live spoiler-free, but has anybody a speculation why Fred was able to see Gina's true face? Was it the blood she tried to wash out?

I can't wait to see next weeks episode!

Notice that she was very interested to know whether that guy had a history of mental illness? My friend said that's what made them able to see Icky Gina. But I've pretty much decided that's not it. My evidence: Angel has been crazy, too. He only sees Jasmine. So there you have it. (Have what, I don't know.)

One that was most definitely evident in this episode is that Gina is an EXTREMELY beautiful woman. I'm jealous.

It could be that one has to be in the midst of their mental illness to see the real Jasmine. Fred had a history of mental illness but did not see the true face of Jasmine until, triggered by failing to remove a blood stain from her beloved's shirt, she "went over the edge" mentally. The man who instantly saw Jasmine for what she was may have been in the middle of his psychiatric problems when he saw her. I think severe self-doubt or feelings of failure might trigger someone to be free of Jasmine's spell.

Nope it's the blood but you know that already, right?

Yes, thanks . But by now I have a new question/speculation :-)

Remember the prophecy from last season: the Father will kill the Son? Now, as we know, prophecies are frequently misunderstood. What if in truth it should have been translated as "The Father will kill the Child"? Meaning that it will have to be Connor who sends the final stroke to Jasmin? That way he could redeem himself from all the crazy things he is doing since he appeared grown-up. (Hey, if all teenagers are like him, I am seriously reconsidering if I want to have kids!)

No spoilers, just speculation.

PS: Did somebody else find himself reminded of "The Mummy returns" with that scorpion demon?

Yeah, I know its the blood now. Some observations about this are:

1. The first person to see Jasmine for what she was - the guy that Fred later visited in the hospital - did not have contact with Jasmine's blood before he attacked her, did he?

2. No problem with Fred scrubbing the bloodstain out until her hands were raw. Some of Jasmine's blood entered her system that way. The spell was broken when Fred saw Jasmine's true form.

3. Fred shot Jasmine and the bullet passed through her (retaining some blood) to enter Angel, thus freeing him from the spell after he saw Jasmine's true form.

4. Cordy's blood freed Lorne, Wesley, and Gunn, but they were freed immediately - they did not have to look at Jasmine to be free of the spell. Any theories why not?

It could be that if Fred and Angel were exposed to Jasmine's blood when they were in a more relaxed, peaceful state of mind, that they might have been freed immediatley as well. As it was, though, Fred was upset about the blood stain and Angel was in furiuos combat mode. This doesn't really hold up, since the others likely struugled to resist the exposure.

5. Conner is immune to the "Jasmine bloodline" cure. This could be because he also is part of that bloodline, being Jasmine's father.

So the things I understand the least are how could that first guy see Jasmine without blood eposure, and how come most of the group were freed without seeing Jasmine at all?

I also wondered about that so I went back and checked very carefully. There was contact:

In the bowling alley a vampire dug his hand into Jasmine's arm causing her to bleed.

Angel chased that vamp out of the bowling alley and into the crowd.

The vamp fell over a table and knocked the guy on the other side to the ground.

When we see the vamp getting up, you can see that the same hand dug into the guys chest.

Thats how her blood got mixed with his.

Interesting, but keep in mind 2 things.

1. Wesley took Conner because of what Loa (plastic hamburger) said which was 'that the vampire will devour his child is certain'. This is a bit more specific than 'father will kill the son' and implies Angel.

2. Sahjan said that he changed the prophecy to get rid of Conner because the original prophecy said that 'the one sired by the vampire with a soul shall grow to manhood and kill Sahjan' He planted false prophecies to avoid that.

Now these 2 things seem to contradict each other, so its possible that there is yet another interpretation which is yours.

Its also possible that Loa considers Conner a vampire. He is the child of 2 vampires, and we know Conner is part demon because the protection spell effected him.

Also, 2 of Loa's 3 portents has happened. The first portent will shake the earth (the arrival of the beast), the second will burn the air (the rain of fire). These 2 events were also important in the creation of Jasmine. The last will turn the sky to blood--this hasn't happened yet.

I do like your idea and there seems to be things to support it. It will be interesting to see if they do it and in a way to be consistant to what Loa said to Wesley.

Okay I've got a question. It contains a spoiler so look below.

Select to view spoiler:

Okay every one that watched Angel last night. Did Gina eat Cordy?

--------------------------------------------------
DOBSON: I'm supposed to be meeting my wife's sister. I've only got a few days to see her...

ZOE: I wish there was another way...

DOBSON: Oh, no, no. That woman is like a dragon. I mean, I believe she has a tail. If there's any other moons we need to visit, or if we could just
fly very slowly...

Good question. I was wondering, too, but now I don't think so, but not so much because the story wouldn't allow for it, but more so because

Cordelia was an important character, and have her taken out like this seems kind of poor taste. Also, I noticed that she still shows in the credits :-).

Besides, Jasmin is probably powerful enough to just move her to another dimension, something like this. Maybe Angel will find Cordy (under stasis, because of the breathing problem) - and Jasmin's name - in that Dimension he is in right now.
