On the City of Angel website there is a new news item that says Robert Hall, the former make-up artist for AtS, has a new movie coming to dvd (with Hall as director). There weren't many details given about the movie, although what was there made it sound interesting - and there was also a link to a movie website (that I haven't checked out, yet - but I will).

The most interesting thing to me, right off the bat, was the name of the movie - "Lightning Bug". Hmmmm. "Lightning Bug". Sounds familiar for some reason, just can't quite put my finger on it.

For the record, from what I read, Hall's movie has no connection to Firefly at all - just a curiously deja vu-ish title.

Thanks for the interest in the moniker of my film.

for the record I wrote "Lightning Bug" in 1999 waaay before "Firefly", my work on "Angel" or meeting Joss.

It's a coming of age drama/ thriller with no connection to Firely other than a coincidental name. Basically what I'm saying is Joss Copied me. LOL

Lightning Bug will be available August 9th.

Well, hello there, Robert Hall.

I'll definitely check out your movie on 8/9, then. I looked at your website. The movie sounds like it has an interesting premise and you sure got an excellent cast for it.

Also, the credits fly by so fast that it's hard to tell, but I think I saw your name on "The Inside" crew listing. Are you working on that show now? Have any gossip for us? Just kidding, sort of.

Thanks for stopping by our little Firefly corner of the world.

Hey,

Indeed I am not sleeping at all right now due to my hectic shcedule on "THE INSIDE:.

I've for sure built the grossest stuff I've ever done for TV on that show. Can't spoil too much but I hope everyone is watching!

Tim's created a great show that's getting Real dark. Thanks for noticing my name at 1.3 blips per second!

That's interesting. I wrongly thought you would have an easier job on The Inside, what with no vampires or monsters to make up. I guess I just realized, after thinking back to last night's episode, that you don't have just all the actors to prepare; you have all of those crime victims, too. And there always seem to be multiple crime victims in each episode. So I see what you mean about being busy.

Well, keep up the good work. So far the only shot that made me just slightly queesy for a second was in the pilot where the M.E. was putting the dead agent's face back on. That was really well done.

I like the show. It's different than other crime dramas, which are really procedurals and everything in the show is just pointed toward solving the crime. On your show, it seems like solving the crime is just the surface story and isn't really the important part of the show. The Inside goes much deeper than that; to where the character interactions and the psychological drama WITHIN the FBI unit is what's really the driving element - getting to know those characters and their motivations is going to be interesting. That's stuff that Law & Order and CSI hardly touch on at all. Plus, there are all of those Firefly and Angel references that we are looking for every week (very clever, so far). No other show on tv can give us that.

Well, take care. I love your work on the first two episodes and am looking forward to the rest.

Stop by and post again, especially after your movie comes out. That must be so cool for you. Hey, your directoral debut is coming out before Joss Whedon's.

Hey Robert, nice to see you stop by our little corner of the 'verse. I'm a big fan of your work on past shows and I love The Inside. I hope the show is able to hang around. I've been waiting to see your movie for a while since it is one of the few movies to be filmed here in Alabama. You seem to have assembled a great cast for the movie and I've read really good reviews. Look forward to seeing your film and keep up the good work and we'll keep watching.

Rob:

Lightning Bug looks awesome! Anyone who hires Hal Sparks has got to be a good man. So is this semi-autobiographical? This definately looks like the kind of movie I would buy, so I will keep my eye out for it!

BTW: Excellent work on The Inside. Everyweek seems to be getting better and better. Those bodies with the heart ripped out were classic! Keep up the good work (maybe Fox will have a change of heart).
