BLUE SUN ROOM FILK
Found written on the cardboard box of one of three spare Catalyzers, in an Engine Room storage locker.
CATEGORY: FILK TIMES READ: 3339 RATING: SERIES: FIREFLY
Most times I can fix things with a little piece o’ wire
Other times it takes a bit of work
Bearin’s lose their tolerance, an’ even circuits tire
Every system has its little quirk
Sometimes things get broken and they cannot be repaired
So worn and torn they finally give in
An’ when they’re part of somethin’ that can’t possibly be spared
You pray you have another in the bin
Chorus: Spare parts, spare parts. All the best mechanics say
Rather than good luck just give me spare parts any day
So you spend your ground time scroungin’ every junkyard you can find
Looking for that bit you know’ll break
But when you’re deep into the black some other part will bind
An’ leave you there to realize your mistake
Then if you are very good, the finest of your breed
With the senses an’ the knowledge an’ the skill
You’ll take some parts from other parts that you don’t really need
An’ make of them the part that fills the bill
Chorus: Spare parts, spare parts. Just keep them close at hand
You'd better have the use of them if things don’t go as planned
I find that folks have problems too, same as any ship
Their spirits an’ their souls just get wore thin
Some times you can build them up and they will get a grip
Other times you must put new parts in
Now parts for souls don’t come in crates, shipped from far away
They come from other people that you love
They get installed by caring for each other every day
An’ slip right into place without a shove
Chorus: Spare parts, spare parts. When people need spare parts
The only place to find them is in other people’s hearts
