Black Rock Ops: Going back home (part one) Rated PG13 just to be safe

Ext.- DEEP SPACE

We can see nothing but the black of space, the nothingness makes it difficult to tell whether you or the space around you is moving. There is no sound. Then we turn and see a large steel object floating in space. It's a ship, a Firefly. Its lights are off and it floats aimlessly through the black, as it turns through space we see a large painted symbol on its side. "SERENITY."

INT.- SERENITY'S BRIDGE

Inside we see the bridge is empty, the lights that used to glow on the console no longer do. Then we see a plastic toy T-Rex floating, and there are three bullet sized holes on the wind shield. Zooming in we can see a big hole in the re-enforced glass.

INT.- SEREINITY'S MED ROOM

The lights are flickering and outside the Med room, with the exception of the red lights blinking on and off, it is dark. Unlike the bridge it is not silent here, a siren is heard going off in tune with the red lights. There, crew run about as Mal shout directions, the scene seems chaotic in contrast to the female voice echoing through the halls.

SERENITY VOICE: Warning! There is a breach in area one's atmosphere regulation system. Warning...

Mal turns and stand is about to walk out of the med room when Jayne bumps into him.

MAL: Jayne they're gone, so unless Vera can plug up that big hole they left you put her aside and prep the gorram suits!

Jayne looks nervous and he is armed with a very big gun (Vera.) He nods at Mal and walks quickly towards the suits.

MAL (cont.): Kaylee! Kaylee! Where the diyu is that girl!

In the med room we see Simon filling a needle with some thing from a dark vial, behind him under the bed is River. She is shaking and Kaylee sits next to her probably trying to calm her but she hears the captain calling so she stands.

KAYLEE: In here Captain!

Mal walks to her and sees river on the floor next to her. At that moment, River clings to Kaylee’s leg, fear in her eyes. Mal looks VERY unhappy at this development.

MAL: Doc! Tend to your sister ‘fore I pry her off my mechanic myself!

Simon turns to see River clinging to Kaylee and Kaylee looking at him like she's saying sorry for getting him in trouble.

RIVER: No! They make them stand! They make them stand even as they bathe in their own blood! Oh God! ... (whispers this part) They'll be here soon.

EXT.- SPACE

we see SERENITY floating, it could be almost peaceful if it were not for the mess inside. Then in the distance we see an object moving through space. It becomes larger after a few seconds, then we see it’s a ship. A Reaver ship...

INT.- SERENITY'S MED ROOM

MAL: This is a real bad time for this!

Simon puts the needle on the counter and walks up to river

SIMON: River, let go of Kaylee.

KAYLEE: Listen to Simon, River. I gots to go sweetheart.

Mal looks like he might shoot someone out of pure frustration when Zoe shows up

ZOE: What’s going on sir?

MAL: Doc can’t seem to get his sister of lil’ Kaylee’s leg so she can tell me if she can fix the bridge, let alone if we’ll be breathing an hour from now!

Zoe looks at the two girls, and decides this would be funny if it the rest of the situation were not so ‘not funny’. She smile and bends so that she is at Rivers height, much like a mother might to a scared child

ZOE: River, honey we have to let Kaylee go with the captain now, they have important things to do.

RIVER: They‘re going to need help

ZOE: You’re very right, that’s what I’m there for. Would you like to come with me in case they need help?

We see Simon try to say something about the whole River helping Zoe idea but he stops dead when Zoe gives him a “shut up Doctor” look. Zoe sticks out her hand to help River up off the floor. River looks at it then takes it and stands, letting Kaylee go.

MAL: Fantastic, lets move. Kaylee come with me, Zoe prep shuttle two, Simon you and your sis are goin’ with Zoe. Move People!

Zoe and River walk out towards the shuttle. Mal and Kaylee walk toward the suits. Simon look like the world has gone insane all around him as he looks between the two groups. River seems to be following Zoe, even mimicking her posture, he decides she is safe for now and goes to the captain.

SIMON: Captain. You can’t be serious! You can’t let River go with her! She is not stable, her meds- She can’t help you captain!

Then Mal turns to him looking like he might kill him, that stops Simon in his tracks though it doesn’t keep him from talking.

SIMON (cont.): Captain, she can get hurt, or lost, or worse out there. You heard her they’ll be here soon!

Mal walks up to him all business until he is towering over him, his expression is grim.

MAL: Doctor this is not a question, I ain’t asking you. Go with your sister.

SIMON: Captain obviously you can’t see-

MAL: No! I can see. I can see your little sister is better at following orders then you, I can see you are beginning to get on my last nerve boy! And I can Gorram see that there are much bigger, pressing matters for me to be putting my attention to then your worries about my second in command’s ability to protect you and your sister, oh and let’s not forget your sister’s ability to protect you. (A bit more calm than before though still stressed) I heard your sis, and I know they are coming back here. My ship is leaking air and a shuttle is the only way you or any one’s going to get out of here, and if River or any one gets hurt you can be there to help. Doc I know what I am doing, now go see to your sister.

Simon looks at Mal, then at Kaylee who is helping Jayne put on a suit behind Mal.

MAL (cont.): Doc, get to your sister. Kaylee will be instructing us via com/camera unit from Inara’s shuttle.

Simon looks relived as he turns and runs to shuttle 2. We see Mal walk towards Kaylee and Jayne as he mutters to himself.

MAL (cont): Boy’s damn dysfunctional, and people say his sister’s crazy.

Ext.- SERRA RESIDENCS GARDENS

We see a small artificial waterfall, the sound of it is peaceful. There is a large tree with pink coloured flowers, cherry blossoms. A few of them have fallen littering the ground with pink, whites, and purples. The garden is not lush but tranquil and inspiring. The grounds are of thick brilliant green grass, with the exception of a few scattered stones steps. There is a light breeze that spins the fallen flowers in the air like dancing butterflies.

INARA V.O: We used to live on one planet, but it died. So we left it behind, along with our life styles, our memories, and even some of our petty differences. As time passed, people were convinced that the worst was done and gone. That our government, the Alliance would take care of us…

INT.- SERRA RESIDENCS PATIO

We see Inara kneeling on a small carpet, Incense burning. The smoke rises as a tear falls down her cheek, her eyes are closed tight and her head tilted back. She meditates, trying to forgive herself. Begging herself to forgive, to think, to act rationally. But most of all begging herself not to want blood, and vengeance. Behind her we see a window leading to a room, a study, with a cortex screen still on.

INARA V.O. (cont.): It was a lie, a brilliant picture painted for those too close to the core or too far from the rim to feel any mistakes the Alliance might make. Corruption had long ago touched and swallowed the Alliance, like a weed it has spread anywhere from the core to the rim. Some people have seen or felt hints of this poison.

INT.- SERRA RESIDENCS STUDY

There is a cortex screen, on it there is a woman with black hair. Her eyes are open, she stares at nothing. Blood tears stain her cheeks and lips. Her face is contorted in pain as she sits slumped in her chair. She is Inara’s Aunt, and she never used to slump.

INARA V.O. (cont.): Some had no idea, until it was too late.

INT.- MIRANDA RESEARCH AND RESCUE CENTER (4 years ago):

We see the same video from the movie playing in the room, and three men in white suits walk about, the BlueSun logo on their chests . Two are holding large black scanners and they seem to be testing different parts of the room for something in the air. The third man stands watching the video, he remains unmoving whilst the young woman is attacked before him. He never breaks his stare. After a few seconds the men who were searching the room stop and stare at him, creeped out. The man then stops the video, and looks at one of the men in the suits.

BlUESUN OFFICER1: What are the readings?

BLUESUN OFFICER2: There are still traces of the PAX here, but the readings are so low that I’d expect the effectiveness of the drug wore out somewhere from eight to ten years ago.

They all take off their masks and suits. Then the main man takes a seat at one of the computer terminals and searches for who sent the video here. After a few seconds we see Mr. Universe’s world show up and his address under the “source” section. The main Officer looks at this and talks to someone over an ear piece.

BLUESUN OFFICER1: Sir. Yes the video was also sent here. Yes sir, from the same place, what are our orders? Yes sir.

The man turns to the other two smiling.

BLUESUN OFFICER1 (cont.): We are to begin the break up of Miranda’s Atmosphere, and erase any evidence of this base.

The other men don’t look surprised as they start their work.

INT.- ALLIANCE OFFICES ON SIHNON (Present time)

We see a man standing at a window that covers the whole wall, on the other side of this window we see a large room below. The room has several cubicles. Each one with a man or woman in uniform working at their desks. The man is old, he is thin and tall, with a hooked nose and thinning white hair. There is a knock at the door. He turns away from the window and as he does so the window is no longer transparent and it looks like a wall.

ANDREW LEE: Come in.

The door opens and in walks a woman with sandy blond hair, she is Mr. Lee’s assistant, she is beautiful and sophisticated.

ANDREW LEE (cont.): Ninna, has Miss. Serra’s alibi been taken care of?

NINNA: I sent a special unit down to her home, she confirmed Miss. Serra’s alibi, so we disposed of her.

ANDREW LEE: Excellent. Please send two units down to Arrest Miss. Serra, if we can not find Mr. Reynolds. He must try and find us.
