Real Life and the Next Story Arc

OK, so I need to say first of all that I have been REALLY missing this site for a long while. Many, many big, hairy, scary, exhausting real life issues to contend with have forced me to leave the 'verse for an extended time. However, as always, Mal and Company continue to whisper in my head and occasionally shout rather loudly for attention. So, in moments stolen from the entirely too serious nature of my current life, I've been working on a little something with the crews of Serenity and The Hit or Miss. The story is coming along painfully slowly, as it is being written in fits and starts...you know, ten minutes here and two minutes there....just enough to keep the plot percolating on the back burner until it's done. So, the question comes up: Since it has been such a long time since the last story arc, will the characters that people my peculiar version of the 'verse be remembered well enough to just pick up the story where we left off, or is something else in order in the way of a reminder? Or, has it been long enough now that the story, though it has a life of its own in my own head, has died the natural death of tales told in the transitory medium of the internet? Points to ponder, and wonder over, I suppose. Anyone out there got a thought about it all?
