My impression of Firefly...

I recently received the DVD set and Serenity as well for my birthday. I dragged my feet watching Firefly as I just didn't seem to find time to watch it. This all changed a few weeks later when the same friend was hosting a get together and I still hadn't watched any of the set. I didn't want to say I hadn't watched it yet so one night I loaded up Disc one and watched the pilot. I really enjoyed it, but I didn't really get why the Alliance was bad. A few nights later I watched the "The Train Job" and got hooked. I started watching at least a show every night By the time I saw "Our Mrs Reynolds" I was filled with mixed emotion's. I loved this show more than any sci-fi show I'd ever seen but I didn't understand how it could only be one season...It was so much fun to watch. Well I watched the whole series in a few days and then watched Serenity. I am left speechless. I only wish there was more.

WOW! It's nice to find out the 'Verse isn't so bad! Thanks for the warm welcome! I have asked for Serenity Collector's Edition for Christmas but I don't think I can wait that long.
Maybe getting the comic book series will tide me over...

Oh and in regard to fan fiction...I too like to scribble a bit from time to time. Is there any guidelines regarding this? (Copyright concerns, legality issues? yada yada yada) I of course would love to read other's work in this regard. Post any links or thoughts please.

HAHA, thats how it always happens! I bought the box set without knowing what the hell it was about. I only bought it because Joss's name was on the front. I was so not dissapointed hey...

It takes a while for the pain and confusion to go away about why it was such a short lived show but, i'm just glad we got to see any of it!!

and theres always fanfiction, write what you want to happen....or just read mine lol!!!

Welcome to the 'verse! Zzetta13's right - I came to Firefly late, because I saw the trailer for the film Serenity and thought it would be a good idea to see the TV series it was based on. And I am so glad I did!

People like you keep things going, finding out about the DVDs, the film, the comics ... and then taking a moment to become a member here. So put your feet up, and sneak a peek at the great fiction, the filk, the pics ... and we'll raise a mug of Mudders' Milk together!

Welcome to the Firefly madness. The questions that you are asking right now have been asked thousands of times and every browncoat here has asked then. As for as I know there are no answers that we can tell ya. Why there was only one season of Firefly? Why hasn’t there been another BDM? It was thought to be a money issue, course that doesn’t hold up anymore. With dvd sales of Serenity and the Firefly box dvds going through the roof, there isn’t any reason not to make more of the best show ever.

I’m glad that you buckled down and stumbled into the Joss verse. A lot of us have similar stories of how we got here. The main thing now is that you’re here and ready to hold the line with us.
