Sorry
Monday, February 12, 2007

Ok, my first post was a bad joke. I'm sorry. So this will be the real thing. Right now in my life I'm pretty scared. I don't know what's going to be happening soon. I'm in the Air Force. We just got information that we're going to be deploying soon. Not we may or might, we will. As for actuall time? I'm not sure. I don't want to go to the desert. I've had training and all that. But I fix jets, I don't fight. I'm just pretty worn out recently. Work is riding me hard to finish my advancement training and testing. I don't really have time to do anything I want to do. I put on a strong face and smile so I won't alarm my friends and family. But I'm really scared. Last week I had to get my Mobility folder and passport information fixed and ready. It's not done yet so I'm getting into trouble with that. My Dog Tags that they didn't give me in Basic training are now ordered and here. I don't know. I think this is enought for a first real blog. I'll write more as the information gets to me. And remember, Even when things look their worst do what Firefly says, "When you can't run, crawl. And when you can't crawl, when you can't do that. You find somebody to carry you."

Keep your head down and hold on sweety. At some point this all has to end and it will get better. We will all be sending our best wishes, prayers, and good safe vibes in your direction. Know that we are thinking of you and we are all pulling together so that much power should keep things going well...HUGS

MAGHAFFAR

My pops was a crew chief in N. Africa in the early 60s -- ironic that the Muslim locals called him "Ghaffar" as a variant of his name long before I got the name change for me. But, yeah, like BEB says... You're good to go, man. The Air Force is by far the safest gig this side of boat duty. Met a guy last week who's going over as a National Guard Reservist who'll be doing Asst. Chaplain duty on a Basra to Baghdad run. So relatively speaking, you'll be in Cleveland.

Ooh...deployment. That will be fun, but think about this: when's the last time you heard about a US military death in Iraq (I presume it's Iraq, less you're maintaing part of any aerial vehicles belonging to the US contignent in Afghanistan) where it was an Air Force officer or enlisted person? Long as you don't provoke the native with hostile threats, you're good;D

Aw Steven. Don't worry about deploying. You'll be okay. I know it's far away. Just focus on getting your work done. Get those tests done, get that folder ready. And dog tags are hot. So wear them all the time. Everything will be okay. I promise. Hang in there best bud. You will be fine. Just call whenever you're worried or scared. You don't need to be brave for me.
