Entry log 0098-2068

The subject is NSC, it has no visible respiratory systems and its mind has no cerebral core.

" God I hate aliens " Simmons said to himself "Their so... impossible, how can this little bastard that took out six marines not be able to think?"

"Or breath for that matter" Simmons looked up expecting to see Dr.Harman, he was always looking to move in on his research. And as always, he was here again.
"So what’ve we got here? Simmons"

"Well 'I' have a new species of covenant"
"Now Simmons, come on you know were on the same team, we shouldn’t be fighting each other, remember, he's the enemy, not me."
"Yea well I guess, the last time you took credit for my work, you were working for the betterment of man kind, not yourself."
“Of course, you know your smarter than me, not all of us are experimental ‘Thirds’.”

Just the mention of word, third, sent a shock wave of anger through his entire body. Due to the act of Congress in 2035, that stated all families are entitled to only two children unless given special permission by the government. Just the simple fact of him being born had caused him ridicule and torture growing up. Due to his parents ‘perfect’ genes the government decided to let them have a ‘Third’. The only difference with his birth, was that while in the womb he was monitored to see what exactly happened to make him a so-called, genius. He had always been used, from the time he was born he was a human experiment always used for the new brain treatment, the first to test out the new programs on the computer or leading the scores on all I.Q. tests. Yea, it was really fun to be smart… especially all the kids making fun of him and the parents not letting his only friend stay over at his house. Not to mention correcting his girl-friend every time she tried to hold a decent conversation, he didn’t mean to, it just happened. Of course being a third wasn’t all-bad, he could easily win any academic award, he could speed read four times faster then any other human, and he could type over three hundred words a minute. You could say that after his adolescent years, life was pretty good. Yea there were the occasional ass-holes and people trying to bring him down, but other than that, he could cope with the ability to come up with any equations solution in about two seconds.
All was great until the covenant came…

It was September 11, 2049 the day was full of celebration, remembering those fallen victims of over four decades ago, when the sun blacked out all over the world. At first people thought it was an eclipse, well until the guy next to you was suddenly blown away by a blast of immense light that could pierce through any keflar. When a person first sees a covenant they think “Monkey” because that’s what they resemble with their body armor on, but they quickly turn from monkey to man killing machine in about four and a half seconds. Their fairly easy to kill, much like humans, a couple of shots to the body or one to the head could put one down easily, the only problem was there are about six trillion covenant and about sixty billion humans. Out of these covenant three trillion are specifically military forces bent on colonizing other worlds, with only two million humans ready for war.

At first we thought they were attacking us due to some misunderstanding, that they feared us… yea a covenant fearing a human… that quickly faded as they strategically destroyed each of our capitols all over the world from space. All humans know the first war was won on the ground because the covenant as, mindless as they were, had not counted on Earth’s gravity to be so much more than theirs. Each of their ships crashed as soon as they entered the earth’s ion-sphere thus not allowing them to attack us from the skies and letting us stick to Earth’s warfare. Even though we were able to fight on the ground, that still didn’t stop them from wiping out entire regiments like grain to the scythe.

“Simmons” the loud speaker blared “Report to the bridge.”
“Well, looks like the captain wishes to make your aquatince” Harmon laughed “Be sure to lock all your files before you leave, you wouldn’t want me to gain anymore…Respect, off your work.”

The last thing Simmons wanted to hear tonight was a request to the bridge, going to the bridge usually meant two things, One your in trouble or two…we’re under attack. And since he didn’t hear any explosions or screams of horror, which is what usually followed a covenant invasion, he chose the first explanation. He was trying to figure out what he had done wrong when he was deafened by the first explosion.
