May 5th and Elitists
Thursday, April 28, 2005

So, very awesome that the pre-showing tickets sold out in a day. Sucks that they sold out in a day because I didn't get to talk to my best friend until after they were sold out, meaning, we don't get to go. Alas, we'll have to be patient, unless someone has two extra tickets for Roseville...ha. If you did, I think I'd marry you. Of course, post-trailer, I'm now debating if I should make the River-as-Ninja-Techie-of-Death-in-Bar outfit, or the outfit from Safe . Oh well. Whichever is easier, I guess...

Now, I often complain of elitists, and my other best friend just got into Firefly recently and was all "After the movie though, it's going to be scary with all the new fans. You obviously get more bragging right than me, but I still get some" and it's all "Um...wtf?! Fans are GOOD, more chance to get show back on the air.." and it just irks me, because, I love her dearly, but life isn't a contest for who has been a fan longer, we should just enjoy what we enjoy, and to hell with those who claim they are better since they've liked it longer...

EMBERS

as we know, the more fans, the more chance of sequels...
a small elitist group doesn't get movies made.
Besides it is fun to have the fresh eyes and excitement of newbies to the DVD set.

The more the merrier. CALLMEATH has a point on all the waiting though. I first watched the show back in September of 2004. I watched in in one weekend and now I'm sitting around patiently waiting for the movie. I shouldn't complain though. I'm just happy there's a movie to wait for.

I completely understand this..Over on the official movie chat room, on the day of the trailer, there were more than a few people raising hell with and about the new people. That makes absolutely no sense to me. I said, Bye! I'd rather be at fireflyfans.net anyway...better class of people!

CALLMEATH

I completely agree. I've liked Firefly from the get go, but that doesn't mean I'm better than anyone else. It just means I was extremely fortunate. Then again, all the new fans didn't have to deal with all this waiting, so maybe I'm not so lucky.

Do all the elitist fans try not to convert people? That would just be stupid.

I have enjoyed Firefly from the start. I have obsessed over it since the dvds were released. I am ecstatic that I was lucky enough to get a ticket to the Austin screening. I may be elitist in other areas, but as regards Firefly/Serenity, I am prepared to welcome millions of new fans as fellow Browncoats of equal rank.
