INTERESTING DIALOGUE FOR A SERENE YEAR (CONTAINS SPOILER)

Sunday, September 25, 2005 10:40:40 AM

*contains film spoilers*

I was watching 'Out of Gas' (my favourite episode) again tonight, and a line I hadn't noticed stood out a bit after watching the film: When Zoe is lying in the infirmary, and Kaylee is watching through the window, Mal comes out, and Kaylee says 'she's not moving... Serenity's not moving'. For the first bit of the phrase, you're not sure if she'd talking about Zoe or Serenity. I noticed in the film the same thing happens - right at the end, Mal and Zoe are talking, and he asks 'think she'll hold together?', and Zoe says something like she reckons she will... but the implication is that Mal is talking about Zoe as well as Serenity.

Just thought it was interesting, that link between Zoe and the ship, when often it's Kaylee or Mal or Wash you think of as having the strongest link to it.

Also, and more personally, I was talking with MyWash, who still hasn't quite figured out the internet and has no idea what my alias is on here, about his favourite female character on the show, and Zoe was last on his list! Kaylee was first.

Still, maybe it was my stunning resemblance to Zoe that threw him.

And I just noticed I've been signed up here nearly a year now... first signed up because I had The Worst Job In The World Ever (I think they had patented that phrase actually), which involved long periods of sitting in front of a computer with nothing to do. Since then, I've been really ill, which contributed (along with the Worst-ness) to giving up that job, I moved house to a new town, started a new job (which was great) - and now I'm moving again. This time, though, it's not to a city I don't know, but back real close to where I grew up, right up in the north of the country! I'm so happy. And it's for such good job reasons too. I'll be watching Serenity on the most northerly cinema screen in the country.

A Serene year.
