Favorite River moments

Sorry to create yet ANOTHER River-related thread, but she's my favorite character!

Anyway, what were your favorite moments from the series, the movie, or the comics (which I haven't read yet).

My favorites:

-Speaking to Badger with his accent in "Shindig". It was sort of funny because Simon thought River would blow their cover, but she didn't. One of the rare times from the earlier episodes, where she seems to be on the same page as the others.

-River dancing (no pun intended) in "Safe". I sometimes wonder if Summer could still go back to dancing if she wanted to. I think her ankle or whatever it was, has healed.

-The cut scene from "Our Mrs. Reynolds", where she asks Book to marry her and Simon. Love the bit where she shoves a pillow under her dress to look pregnant.

-River trying to "fix" Book's Bible (forgot the episode). Also later, getting freaked out by book's hair, and hides in a hatch.

-River eavesdropping on the others in "Objects in Space". Complete with her standing on the railings!

-Pretending to be Serenity in "Objects in Space" to confuse Jubal Early.

-Another from "Objects in Space" when she says she's willing to go with Early because she's a danger and a burden to the crew. A tear jerker moment (even if it was all a ploy to trick Early, it was still sad).

-Last one from "Objects in Space" (it's my favorite episode!), this exchange between Mal and River when he rescues her.

Mal: "You know, you're not quite right."
River: "It's a popular theory."

What makes that line great is it's difficult to tell if River is agreeing with him, just in a joking manner, or if she was just being sarcastic. Just one of those things that made her mysterious.

From the movie "Serenity", her line, "I swallowed a bug" gets a chuckle out of me.

Also, there's another moment from the series, and I completely forgot which episode it is, but it's one where River and Simon are hiding on the outside of the ship from Feds. Simon is just freaking out, both because he's afraid the Feds will find them, and also because he doesn't like being in space. Meanwhile River is just calmly looking off into the stars with a big joyful smile. Awwwww

You covered a lot of my favorites too, except for one.

In "Safe," when she tells Simon she knows he gave up everything for her, and that when he found her he found her broken.

"I swallowed a bug" was a throwaway gag from the movie "Serenity".

It was the only response she had after being chased by the Reavers.

You covered most of my favs, but here goes one that always makes me smile:

At the end of the BDM, she tells Mal to go ahead and say it anyway, about what makes the ship fly. He says you know what I'm about to say and she wants to hear it from him anyway.

Also, when she tells Simon that "It's my turn"

Classic. Joss got it right there and in OiS.

Damn shame no one else saw how great the series was.

I guess she could but she said that she never goes to any ballet classes anymore cause she doesn´t like being reminded that she´s not as good as she used to be.. She´s still dancing though, just not ballet.

River and Simon are my favorites, you cover a lot of wonderful River moments here. The one where they're in space on the side of the ship is Bushwhacked, for some reason everyone forgets the name of that episode. I love it when they come back in and she's like "Lets go again!" She's so excited, if I were hercaregiver I'd make sure that we had a chance to go out in space more often because she really enjoys it. Other cute ones that aren't mentioned: When she tells Mal that the cows now know who they are. When she saves Kaylee in War Stories, I always want to smack Kaylee for never saying thank you. And how did you guys forget her scaring Jayne by telling him she can kill him with her brain? I have a shirt that says that on it. River is such a sweet and special person.

Yeah, the morbid lines can be interesting too. It seems that everyone in my local browncoats group is scared of River. I'm the only one who isn't, she is a sweet person who doesn't seem to hurt those who care about her, slashing Jayne was just whacky fun after all. :) She has certain abilities which can be construed as alarming, but she's still touched, a sweet person with differences who needs looking after. So I'm not afraid, she doesn't harm those who care for her.
