When you actually mean it, apologize just once. The people worth hanging onto will accept that apology as long as you don't give them any reason to believe that it was hollow. Those who don't accept it aren't worth your time or emotional investment, or debasing yourself by begging or apologizing over and over again. Time does change people, and usually that means that not everybody you used walk with with when you started the journey are still going to be walking with you by the end of it. In time you'll figure out that they're the ones who are missing out. Not you. Some of them even might come around and try to get in your good graces after you let them go. Maybe then it's their turn to apologize to you first.
