Clyde (very long rant)
Tuesday, March 15, 2005

Okay, so the story begins about half a year ago. We found a stray dog and adopted her. We named her Zoe. She's a lovely, docile, happy staffordshire terrier. She even loves babies, which is a good thing since we're having a couple soon.
The only problem with her and babies is she can't seem to get it through her head that she's not allowed to kiss them. Okay, she knows she shouldn't but she'll sneak. if a friend of mine brings her baby over, Zoe will crawl over on her belly to the baby and when she thinks noone is looking sneak a quick kiss then run away.
Anyway, I digress.

When we took Zoe to the vet to get her all of her shots and what not we discovered that she was knocked up . . ..grr. It wasn't long before we had 7 puppies running thought our house. We made sure each had their first set of shots then found homes for them. The majority of the homes were to friends in the neighborhood. We also got Zoe fixed very soon after the puppies got here.

One of the families recently decided that they didn't want their puppy anymore. His name was Clyde. They took Clyde to the humane society here in town. My husband went down to visit the puppy and discovered that he was labled "unadoptable". This was greatly disturbing to my husband, because he was expecting Clyde to find a new home and be happy.

He asked the vounteers why Clyde was not adoptable. Apparently, staffordshire terriers look alot like pit bulls, and in this state, it is illegal to adopt pitbulls. My husband tried to explain that Clydle was docile, and he knew, because he had rasied him from a puppy. Besides, Clyde wasn't a pit bull.

The volunteer explained that Clyde looked like a pit bull, and therefore he was to be put down in the morning. My poor husband freaked out and said he'd take Clyde. The society refused, because, as I mentioned, it is illegal to adopt out pit bulls in our area. Hubby insisted and brought proof that he was a previous owner. Finally, after alot of arguing, and a butt load of money, Jon got to bring Clyde home. (he's just been fixed too.)

Anyway, we don't need 2 dogs and 2 babies, so we're trying to find a home for Clyde. I know we should have just left him there if that was the case, but they weren't even going to give the poor puppy a chance. We couldn't stand the thought of one of our puppies being killed.

He's fixed, nice, and waiting for a home. If you know anyone in the central MO area who would love Clyde, let me know.

Thanks!!

PERIDIDDLE

I can't believe they were just about to put him down! Was it at the Columbia Humane Association? That's insane! Jeez...

He's just utterly adorable...so cute! I might know a few people who would like him, though I'm unsure if they're looking for dogs. I can pass this information around, though, to some of my friends in Columbia...hopefully he'll find a good home!

MAI

He is so adorable! I wish I could take him for you. As of now I have two kitties and limitied apt. spaces, that wouldn't quite work out.
Anyway, I just wanted to say how very grateful I am that you and your husband saved Clyde. It really warms my heart to know that there are people like you out there that are so compassionate. Best wishes to you and your new babies!
